On the death of NSFCD

I've heard this line tossed around more times than I can count. And I've heard it, again, enough in the last few days that I feel the need to address this directly once more.

Let's start with the disappointing fact SkyMyl has apparently resigned, based on his rank and tweets. I know little of this, but I have to say, suggesting the death of this site is pretty interesting. Especially considering he, and others, apparently want to "spectate" the death.

So, allow me to re-iterate something I've been saying for a long time: you are a part of the problem. NSFCD constantly goes through phases of "cabin fever". I've addressed it in similar posts to this. If you look at any group of friends -- be they cliques, or clubs, or whatever -- they will consistently go through such phases.

I went through a ton of terse relationships in high school. And a period later, we'd be back together and better than ever. I use that analogy because many of you are still in high school, and the rest of us, sans Bored, are relatively recently graduated. It should relate to many of you.

Here's the deal, though. Instead of proclaiming the death of the site (Sky, FH, whoever), why don't you contribute to changing that? Now, I know most of you are incredibly lazy, but, I do have a point. The energy spent moaning and groaning here amazes me. "Oh no! There are so few posts!"

I don't care. I'm content.

Silver offers this place to you all, free of charge, as a hang out. While we'd both be delighted to see thousands upon thousands of posts, we both realize this is not the case. And, I think, have both accepted this in very different ways. Again, speaking only for myself, how we are activity wise is fine.

But if you've got a problem with it, you need to be the change you want to see. Yeah, I quoted Gandhi. Bitches. NSFCD is shaped by you guys whether you think it is or not. And both Silver and I care a great deal for the site. The hours we have invested into this site blow me away: this is on top of education, jobs, personal lives, etc. You guys are a part of my family.

I was deeply honoured to see you guys come together to wish me well when I rolled my vehicle. That was an amazing gesture, and it proves what I want to say. It proves, above all else, that we are friends (or family). Thinking friends and family don't squabble is stupid. I can't even begin counting the arguments I've had with any of my friends, my siblings, or my parents. Nor could I count those I've had here.

However, there is a lot of bullpoop on NSFCD. So, here are a couple of reminders.

1. NSFCD is for all of you. None of you are more entitled than another to be here and use this service, that is provided to you free of charge by Silver.

2. Silver and I are both here to help. We're nice guys. We'll help you with forum problems, and, if you're not a pretentious vagina cleaning device, are even willing to help you with life stuff. We're not the best people to go to -- but we're there. Don't ever think we're not.

3. NSFCD isn't going anywhere. Unless you hear it directly from both Silver and I, NSFCD is here to say. Any of you contemplating a coup d'etat (as I've been informed is the case), leaving because of an impending implosion, or what have you...re-think that. We'll continue to provide NSFCD for as long as we possibly can.

Which does bring me to one last point. Silver and I aren't going to be around as much this summer. With the relative success of SHH MOM, Area 6 being launched (eventually!), The Nuzlocke Challenge for Child's Play (pm me if you want in), jobs, personal lives, etc. we just can't be here all the time. Both of us will be taking a step back from NSFCD. We want you to, again, be the change you want to see.

We are giving you the keys to make NSFCD a home, if it isn't already. We want it to be a home away from home for you. It sure is for us. Does this mean that, if we so choose, we'll ban by polling you? Yeah, absolutely. It's still a private service. But it also means that the future of NSFCD is being put squarely on your shoulders. The question is....

Where are you going to take us?

Anyone wonder what would happen if we unlocked a somewhat important topic?

I say we try it.

It was nice knowing you. But I think Mack is about to kill you.
I really hate how I've made more than 12,000 posts here. Thankfully this swaying, moving Chandelure makes it all worth it.

Mack doesn't come here anymore.

I'll come back if you post that picture you promised Mack.

In all seriousness, reading that inspired me to become a better member and really help the site. Because he proposed the "We are a family" and he's MoM so it all fits.

I recently got an email (today actually) from an old FCD (before the whole NS prefix) friend of mine, Ron. Basically he was looking into getting all the old dudes back together and resurrecting what we had a a few years back.

Now I'm going to assume nobody reading this probably remembers who the balls I am. That's cool. Before the NS prefix, I was a daily dedicated user of FCD. We moved hosts TONS of times. Always lost people every time it happened. I'm assuming this is because it was so confusing to change all the time, people either got lost or gave up.

I kind of did, in a way. After the NS merge, the forum because primarily NS members. I had no idea who anyone was, and likewise. I felt a little alienated and I can be a shy guy, no video game reference intended.

Anyway, whatever I'm trying to say is I guess try to find and reconnect with the people who left and cared the most, who aren't still here already. That's what the email I got today was all about. I used to love this place. And I'm not sure where to go or what exactly has been going on, since I've been gone for quite a while.

I think I just wanted to throw in my hand and say I still care, regardless of my time gone.
