No.
Technology may be getting better, but people are getting nerdier. Eventually, the robots are gonna be doing all the walking and talking for us, but humans will be in control. Their fake opinions will be exactly what the nerds want them to be.
From a past point of view, it may look like robots would have taken over the world, but in reality they will just be our slaves who won't complain because they're programed that way.
And if they do take over, Will Smith won't save us.

Only when me make the first GLaDOS, then we are screwed.

Hm, perhaps, but we need to develop AI first? And I most certainly hope so! They'd be so much better at running things than humans ever will be. *reads more Asimov*
Yeah...I hope we crack the coding necessary to cause that to happen...the theories and possible structures are there...we just need to find a way to successfully implement it.

No, but I have been playing KillZone 3, and the team AI couldn't take over a conversation, let alone the world.

Really, though, I doubt it.
The AI you're mentioning is different from the AI we're taking about-the AI you're mentioning is considered "Weak AI".  It's made to SEEM intelligent.  The AI we're taking about would be "Strong AI"-or AI complex and developed enough to act similar to a human being.  Cleverbot is similar to this-but not close enough.  It learns from others, and builds data along patterns it recieves-like a person, but cleverbot is missing a few vital links.

And in the end, programmers can always find ways to add in failsafes.  Where there's a will, there's a failsafe.

I'm sure you knew I was joking, and just added that comment to add to the conversation, right?

Anyway, I don't think we are anywhere close to developing AI capable of not only taking complete control, but keeping that control.  The main reason is that we, as humans, can't really develop incorruptable systems.  I think that even if AI was to advance to a state where it could take control and grow, i.e. develop itself outside of the bugs inherent in most software, some 12 year old hacker named xXxLadEKillez  would find an exploit and that would be the end of it.

And of course, the algorithm would be able to learn and adapt incredibly quickly, and I don't foresee it happening anytime soon.

If they aren't orgainc robots, we could just drain all the world's electricity or something.

I had that feeling you were joking, but I couldn't help but use it to spur more conversation :3

Yeah...if only...

Doodle

That would be silly.
Though eventually I'm sure we'll get mixed in with robots, and humans will probably get bionic parts and all that jazz.
YEAH

Super
