But that requires extra downloading and installation.

I use WMP for everything except for di.fm, which I stream on RealPlayer. I find it satisfactory.

What media player(s) do you use most?

Only includes ones as computer programs, no iPod, TV, or YouTube (meh, vote up to twice for whatever reason)
