I vastly prefer the original series.  The new one just didn't impress me at all.

I thought ZSZS was absolute gold.  Was it because it lived up to "EXTREME" and did things oddly?

I love that in an anime.  It was a work of art.

It moved away from whatever it was I enjoyed in the first series.  I don't know specifically what it was, but watching the second season, it just didn't make me want to keep watching like previously.  It also felt as if before, the show was odd and funny, but that wasn't the complete focus.  The second series seemed to just aim for as strange as possible, which I generally dislike.
