Also, I was reading the Wii page on TVtropes for no real reason, when I came across this paragraph.

Wii hacks center around getting emulators and pirated games (Both Wii and GameCube games, even) to run on the system; in fact, out of the three current consoles, piracy is most rampant on the Wii due to how easy it is. Although Nintendo has tried to stop hacking through firmware updates, the hackers aren't far behind with new exploits. It is also possible to play DVDs using homebrew software, though Nintendo would have us believe it requires a hardware upgrade because movie playback wears out the system's DVD drive so quickly. They're probably not lying - the Wii's main tactic for averting Loads And Loads Of Loading seems to be spinning the disk really, really fast, which has an unfortunate tendency to break the disc reader.
