I honestly see no difference between the the 2 other than appearances and stats.
Ones more oriented towards physical while the other is more oriented towards special.

Appearance-wise, it's pretty clear to see which of the two is better.

I have no way to explain this, but I just caught a Shiny Pokemon in my White version.

The random number generator in Black/White seeds in such a way that, early on in the game, quite a few players will find a shiny.
When I played the Japanese game half a year ago, the first Pidove I found was shiny. Several people I see playing the game now have found one. However, the actual shiny appearance rate is not increased at all.

Also, Zekrom does look cooler, HOWEVER.. I never use the mascots anyway. (STILL haven't even caught Lugia in SS. I sent him to Whirl Islands just because I didn't feel like struggling to catch him in-game, and I haven't gotten around to battling him again)

Also, on the new file in Emerald I made a year ago, beat the whole thing, but haven't caught Rayquaza yet.

My Platinum Giratina is sitting at level 47 in my PC box.

But Reshiram's cry sounds cooler. They play the cries when you PRESS START at the title screen, and Zekrom is just a roar like AHGDJKHGAKHJGFKHJG. But Reshiram is like OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

That's a nice pokemon to get a shiny off. At least it wasn't a Pidove or a Packrat or something.
Oh, and I'm not doing a speedrun, it's just that the early game has so few powerful moves you can breeze through the first third by simply doing type match ups. *Shrugs*
Trust me, now that I got Victini and my team set, I'm gonna take my time a bit more.
