There are many reasons behind that:

1) There's no fun if there are no prizes.
2) People are so busy with school.
3) Those games are getting old.
4) Possibly, most of us are dropping video games altogether.
5) The sponsor is a hyperactive guy who's avatar is his face's eyes staring right at us, which freaks out most of us. Seriously, man, put up another avatar that doesn't have any part of your body.
6) Everyone's not in the mood for those tourneys.
7) The sponsor only cares about tourneys more than chatting with everyone, which is not good.

1.  There is plenty of fun as in you get to do something that doesn't have to be on a freaking computer.
