It's not about whether or not it's My Little Pony, though, it's ABOUT the packaging. Yes, regardless of how well the show is written, animated, and voice acted, it's still basically a toy commercial; however, the fact remains that it IS fairly well written, animated, and voice acted, and that's good enough. It's more about HOW it's presented than it is WHAT'S being presented, which really applies for any form of entertainment (for example, Pokemon is marketed at kids and rated E, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game series).

I didn't say it was a bad show, but I just think it's a little disheartening when teenage or older males are really super into it. Like I said, it's fine if yall like it, but it still is My Little Pony, which yall seem to want to deny. And I've also watched and enjoyed things way outside of my demographic, but I also acknowledge and understand what demographic it belongs too and accept it as such.
I also don't discount that there's stuff in there that adults can enjoy too, but it still is My Little Pony. And if it being MLP doesn't bother you at all, that's fine too, but I don't see the need to separate it from anything else MLP, or essentially deny that it's MLP.

QuoteAlso, just to through this in, the developers including Lauren Faust (the head producer) have acknowledged and defended the fact that a very large demographic of the show is 18-25 year-olds.

Yeah, they're probably happy that it appeals to such a wide range of people and that a lot of people are enjoying. From some of the things that I've read about it sounds a little reminiscent of some 90s cartoon stuff which is probably part of the reason for the appeal with the older demographic.

I think she basically said, "We aren't just writing for the little kids, we're writing for the adults who have to watch it with them."

I find that sort of thinking very... refreshing. I mean, every show has a target audience, but it's nice to hear that writers are smart enough to appeal to a broader range.

While the new show may be packaged differently, it still is that. It's still My Little Pony. Which the primary demographic that MLP is generally marketed towards is adolescent girls.

It's fine if you like it, but just don't deny what it actually is.

Bam. Straight from her (Lauren Faust) mouth. They didn't make it just for little girls.
Also, we're not denying what it is. If so, we'd have a codename for.

Well I didn't say everybody was denying it but whenever I mention that it is My Little Pony I keep getting reasons back why it's so much different from earlier iterations and how it's not just My Little Pony.  It sort of sounds like yall, or some of you, are trying to distance it from the My Little Pony branding.

And I never said that it was wrong that men like it, or that it was wrong that any of yall like it. (Also not implying that you're implying that I was.)

But I was saying that it's a little disheartening when older men are really super into it and the ways that they choose to show it or celebrate it.  I'm not ragging on anybody who does like it, it's just the way some of it's older male fans show that they like it is a little bit off-putting.

Yeah. That poor guy who got the Rainbow Dash tattoo must hate life.

Didn't know about the tattoo thing but chances are he actually will at least end up hating the tattoo maybe just a few years down the line. Especially depending on how big it is/where it's located.

Since when did show workers have deviantart accounts?

Open mIRC, select Chatspike's Server, go to #nsider or #nyanya. Either way, both chats are dead.
