What's the story behind that? (no spoilers, please)

He didn't. As far as I can remember, X was just the next model of Mega Man, created as Dr. Light's last great reploid. X was activated after Dr. Light had already died, though.

They make to many mega mans and every one has a connection to the old one but in the same time makes it so you don't need to know the old story.

extraz

no one knows....that simple...

the story of Megaman has more plot holes that swiss cheese on a bagel.

Not exactly..

The original Mega Man is connected to some of the other games in the following series:

Original Mega Man games->Mega Man X games->Mega Man Zero games->Mega Man ZX games

Which is frankly alot of games. You're right on that. :P

The Battle Network+Starforce games are connected and take place in the same universe. I'm not sure if Legends is still seperate or has been confirmed to have a relation with the original Mega Man.

Legend's was my favourite...
I'm probably wrong, but didn't they find the Megaman in Legends inside ruins or something, along with Data? Possible relation grounds...

Yup, you're right. I've heard gossip that it was officially confirmed the two were related (Legends is supposed to happen like a hundred-thousand years after the main series), but I can't seem to find a source.

And Network+Starforce would take place hundred-thousand years after Legends... Fun.

I've heard lots of things about Legends, byt my favorite is that the Master was X who created the new worlds after humanity's end. Of course when that idea was introduced, there was no ZX or NT games.

here is the problem: capcom never originally intended megaman and megaman x to take place in the same universe. in the beggining of x the thing that was supposed to make x unique was he had a "suffering circuit" which gave him human emotions, this means he was the first robot to have this which implies the original megaman didnt have emotions, but that is cleary untrue when you listen to the story of the first mega man games in which mega man clearly has emotions and is willing to sacrafice himself for the fate of the world.

the problem is they originally had the to series unconnected but right about the time mega man x2 came out they decided "wait why dont we have the two series connected?" unfortunately they had already left that crucial hole in the plot and simply chose to let it be unresolved.

What ? thats makes 0 sens because that means they already had techonology going on thousands of years before Legend can't have a connection with the MMBN or MMSF. Thought MMSF does continue 200 years after MMBN. Thought in MMSF there a secret mission where you go to help the navy megaman and once megaman hits the FM word his all like WTF ? What is this place ? Thought the bad navy you had to kill said his from the net -.- So that means Geo the main character in MMSF knows nothing about the net -.-???? And that all the navys are still used but you know us human slaves to help them to there job. Really MMSF killed the serie and the original ideas :(

I have no idea what you just said, but from what I see:
Rock→X→Zero→Legends(a new word)→BN→SF

it is to my understanding the official time line is

mega man -> x -> zero -> zx -> legends.

I have also been told that starforce and battle network dont actually take place in the same universe as the other games.

That's more what I meant earlier, sorry for my crappy wording. Like you said, Battle Network and Starforce both take place in the same universe, but that universe is different from the original Mega Man universe.

That's not surprising that BN & SF are AU. (Heh, forgot about ZX)
I'm curious about the transition from ZX to Legends, because I heard Legends was in a new world created by X, as the Master, after the fall of the humsn race.

The Mega Man timeline is very confusing, but it could be patched together. Zelda though... X_X
