Yeah, but IIRC Zero was the first Reploid. So X was created in response to Zero, but was he created from start or just a modified Rock in a stasis chamber?

ah yes again we end up with the gaping plot hole between mega man and mega man x. as I said on my first post there is a major plot hole in the series as in the mega man universe a "reploid" is a robot with human emotions, and x or zero were supposed to be the original reploids, however that doesnt make sense considering the original mega man constantly showed human emotions. I do know for sure though that zero was created by dr.wily and x was the last robot created by dr.light.

I'm not sure if x is the samer person as mega man or if he's a differant robot.

Maybe... well, from what I remember, Rock didn't show much emotion, if any, in the first 6 games and it was Mega Man 7 & 8 where it was becoming increasingly evident. I imagine this was because plotline was becoming more important in the new generation, and it's very difficult to have an emotionless main character. Bass was also introduced at this time and was the first robot to show jealousy... maybe Bassium is responsible for robot emotion and Rock was infected with it during his encounters with Bass. Now that you think about it, Bass was the first robot to rebel against its master...

yeah but rock showed emotion in the very beggining. he was originally living a peacefull life as a household cleaning robot, but when the whole dr.wily thing went down and wily started taking over the world rock volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot so he could save the world.
although there may be something ot the whole bassium theory.

Maybe Rock's emotions were mocks in the beginning. It isn't hard to fake emotion... maybe the answer lies within another question. Why didn't Mega Man rebel with his comrades during Wily's schemes? What about Protoman?

maybe but being converted into a fighter meant risking his life. I believe the answer to your question was that wily reprogrammed all the other robots to be his slaves, he passed by rock because he didnt see him as having any fighting abilitys, thats what it says from the story for mega man 1 from anniversary collection. as for protoman I dont know.

Sacrifice, eh?

So Rock, then Bass for Rock, then Zero for Rock & Bass, and finally X for Zero. So if those were the first robots to feel emotion, then maybe the purpose was to match Rock's mysterious capacity to feel emotion. Maybe X & Zero were just the first robots designed with emotion in mind, and it just... happened in Rock and Bass.
