I actually believe this is credible, but Jono2 found this already. :) Anyways...

Pokemon get in based on popularity. There is no room for argument there. If the anime boosts their popularity, then it is so, but the anime doesn't pull Pokemon out of their behinds; they first appeared in the games.

Sakurai did say there would be on character per 3rd party house; supporting this are accounts of Tails, Knuckles, Gray Fox (obviously), and Raiden appearing as Assist Trophies.

Sakurai does not set the release dates, Nintendo does.

This thread is full of /facepalms...

1. I don't think there will be anymore Sonic characters, but if no characters appeared for the Sonic sticker, it doesn't mean anything... The Klap Trap Sticker was highlighted and DK didn't appear...

2. Of course this video is credible. It did come from Nintendo itself...

3. Pokemon characters almost always get in on popularity... When you think about it, no Pokemon is more important than the other.
-- Pikachu was made the mascot of Pokemon because of the Anime. Don't say anything about Pokemon Yellow because I'm pretty sure that came later.
-- Jigglypuff is obvious. She got popular through her various roles in the anime.
-- Mewtwo I think had a  larger role in the Pokemon games because he was the 2nd ultimate Pokemon (Mew came first. ;)). Although, having a movie that had him in a starring role didn't hurt either. ;).
-- Pokemon Trainer is really the only exception to this. He actually is the main character of the Pokemon franchise and his Pokemon were the starters or an evolved form of the starters for Red & Blue.

YAY LUCARIO!!!!!!  However, that's definately Pokemon Trainer, not Ness.  Serebii.net has a zoomed in pic, and you can see that this mysterious capped person has spiked hair and a half-circle on his hat, just like PT.

What you have to do is pause it at the part where they are apparently missing, then quickly press the pause button twice... it works for me O_O
