I have a few questions for you guys:
Seeing as how Animal Crossing is getting representation in Brawl in the form of items, music, and a stage, do you think Animal Crossing will cross the final step and have a character in Brawl?
Do you even want an Animal Crossing representative as a playable character?
If there was a playable Animal Crossing character in Brawl, who do you think it would be with Resetti and K.K. Slider officially out of the question?
I hope this can lead to intelligent discussion and debating. Please don't flame anyone for their opinions but I don't think we should have a problem with that here.

Now for my response:
I would personally LOVE to see an Animal Crossing character in Brawl. I don't think Sakurai would miss the opportunity to add a representative to a new and popular franchise. Who do I think would be the best representative in Brawl? Well Animal Crosser of course. I also support Tom Nook but he's almost out of the picture. Either one would be fine by me but I support Animal Crosser more. He's probably my most wanted newcomer since King DeDeDe and Sonic were revealed.
I'm still waiting for Captain Olimar to be confirmed.
I agree with you, Java. It would be wrong for Animal Crossing not to have a character, yet contribute so much to the game. Animal Crosser is heavily anticipated on this end.
If it so happens, I'd live with it.. but I think I could find someone or something else I'd like better. I'd be happier without.. yeah, the more the merrier, but an AC rep isn't on my guest list, so to speak.
Yeah, I think an AC playable will happen. We've got a stage, item, AT, icon, and so much more for AC and it'd be stupid to deny the series a playable character.
"BUT THEY DUN FITE IN AC!" They don't fight in F-Zero either, but what's that? They got C. Falcon, stage, and AT. Doesn't matter if there's fighting or not in the series. What matters is that the series is highly requested (which AC is).
The character would be Animal Crosser. Pokemon Trainer can prove this to be true. Yes, I know Pokemon =/= Animal Crossing, but PT shows that generic names are possible. You have to name PT and AC in their respective series or they'd be nameless. Its not like LoZ where the hero already has a name - Link. You can name Link but its not necessary like it is in Pokemon and Animal Crossing. For games the characters are referred to as "boy" or "girl" whereas in LoZ its "Link". Generic names are in and that ups Animal Crossers chances 10-fold.
And I remember an interview where a Brawl rep was talking about a playable AC character that sounded an awful lot like Animal Crosser...

Of course it will happen, and I have that interview right here:
FAMITSU: Have you been approached to contribute Animal Forest elements for the new Smash Bros. game?
KATSUYA EGUCHI: Yes, and there is quite a funny story to it. A few months after E3 2006, (Masahiro Sakurai) contacted me and asked if I'd like to develop possible Animal Forest ideas for Smash Bros. Originally, we settled on just a quick, simple Animal Forest item, but with the success of Wild World and the Animal Forest film, he asked if I'd be up for designing additional elements. [Laughs] Fast forward a few months and I had stage and character concepts created. Sakurai chose his favorite of the stage concepts, slightly tweaked it to his liking, and we together decided on the final Animal Forest character, which is a very fun character to play. With both the stage and character I utilized ideas from the games. For example, if you play the stage at night, the sky will be dark. If you play in the winter, expect to see snow, and leaves in the autumn time. And yes, trees will be decorated on Christmas! It's really something else. I worked very hard on this one little stage! [Laughs] The Animal Crossing character is very much like the one in the games. You know, he will use his axe, fishing rod, bug catching net, and everything else from the games."
I'm not sure if this was made up or not....

I doubt it is. That interview has gained major attention of many people so if it was faked then it'd have been taken down by now and its still there so I think its reliable.
I would definitely love to see a generic animal crosser character in Brawl.
also I heard Famitsu was a reliable source ;)

I found a site that mentioned the interview. It's called www.nintendopedia.org. Just enter super smash bros brawl and you might find something. It should have a character section revealing that reveals Luigi and Jiggs are returning.

I hope it wasn't made up. :)
I doubt it is. That interview has gained major attention of many people so if it was faked then it'd have been taken down by now and its still there so I think its reliable.
Actually, that was a real interview and the AC character that's coming in as a newcomer is Animal Crosser. I'm not joking. I heard he uses an axe and net. That's really all I know about. I and another member talked about an email that stated the Animal Crosser details.
Do you have a transcript of the email from that member?
No, all that happened was the member (forgot the name) asked if the email was submitted. I was like, "What email?." And then he explained that it was the email for Animal Crosser." He believes it's real and I do also. Even if it's fake that interview with AC's director proves there will be an AC rep and that would most likely be the main character so Animal Crosser would be in.
The problem is, I have no idea where this interview came from. The one possible article has no mention of Brawl.
Maybe they just interviewed him and put it in a random section of Famitsu.

Sounds good. And I know for sure that the creator of AC wanted the Crosser in.

oh yeah like axe, fishing pole, sling shot, etc.
no but did you get your sig from my pic cause i enhanced my avatar?
Personally, I don't overly care if they do get one or not, but if they do, I want Tom Nook for two reasons
1. All other characters are far too minor (and KK isn't an event only circumstance, so I don't think he can be in)
2. "Animal Crosser" or the generic avatar is just that, generic. Main reason I don't like the PKMN trainer itself (I love the three in one tho). Personally, I think they should've made it "Ash" because he's an actual character rather than a random no name avatar. I dunno, it's just me but I don't like blank avatars in fighting games. I know there is a rumor about him/her but w/e...

i completely agree, but im sure they will add the animal crosser.
they added smashville, which i love.
It had no real name, but they created it and named it so im betting thats what they do for the character too.

But in the games, there are no set playables. Sakurai could have named him Red, but that's not represenative of the series idea.

Well, they also have a generic FE stage, so I guess thats just something thats going to happen in this game, but it slightly irks me. Oh well, I guess I just won't use him then. No biggie. I got Sonic so I'm happy.

But in the games, there are no set playables. Sakurai could have named him Red, but that's not represenative of the series idea.
Gym leaders, elite four, etc. IMO much more interesting than the generic trainer. Doesn't feel like it's from the game itself to me.

yeah but maybe the different colors or styles will have different costumes from throughout the pokemon series.

Maybe, but I dunno. The only one to have a "costume" is Wario. But I'd love to see shiney pkmn, female trainer, and at least one gym leader. I've always wanted to be a gym leader...similar to the job like system in FF where you can be certain things rather than the up and coming trainer.

Gym leaders aren't as important to the story as the generic trainer though; I think the only notable that could be playable is Blue, and that's because he's a generic Champion.

Or the generic guy from Mt. Silver in G/S/C...a.k.a. unofficial Ash. That would work wouldn't it?

Yeah, the same one. GS is the sequal to RB, which is why Blue succeeds Giovanni as Viridian Leader and Red gives up his champion status for personal training. They just gave him the default name.
