Title: Best and worst webcomic?
Post by: Tupin on February 19, 2008, 06:43:37 PM
What is your favorite in your opinion?

Favorite: Penny Arcade.  They have the correct balance of character development and gaming and F@NBOY$ will be good when it comes back in March.

My least favorite would have to be Ctrl Alt Delete. I'm sorry, but comics should not have month long story arcs and no punchline. The fact that it is daily obviously hinders it.

Post your favorite newspaper comics, too.

EDIT: PLEASE MOVE, Sorry. :(

Web: VGCats, but I haven't seen very many so I'm not really that good a person to ask.
Newspaper: The Far Side.  Anyone who disagrees dies. :|

No Lucky Cow?

Speaking of which, my newspaper replaced Lucky Cow with some faux-golden era strip. :|

Mine is probably F@NBOY$. Funny, while retaining the explictness. Penny-Arcade is second best.

Least is definently ctrlaltdel

Personal favorite is Friendly HOSTILITY (http://www.friendlyhostility.com/).
Shittiest I've read is VG Cats.  They just aren't funny.

best is SNAFU, hands down.

I can't think of a worst one.  I love quite a few of them... PA, VGcats, C & H, Chugworth, Metroid: TD...

gah.  Metroid TD would probably be the worst of them, just because of infrequent updates (though Chugworth was gone for quite a few months).

I actually like Ctrl Alt Del (funny but has a plot), but other favorites are Order of the Stick (good story telling) and Cyanide & Hapiness (horrible and yet it has its charm).

Least favorite would have to be...I really can't think of any.

I enjoy not only the humor, but the art style as well.  It's still my favorite webcomic from over the years.  Also, that's actually the spin off from her first series, Boy Meets Boy (http://boymeetsboy.keenspot.com/).  Looking back at those, you can really see how her style has improved over the years.

And Calvin and Hobbes is up there for me for print comics.

You people really haven't tried enough horrible webcomics if you think VGCats is the worst. It's not good, but there's far worse.

Boston and Shaun, people. Try reading it and you'll see why I said it was the worst.

vgcats isn't bad, it used to be really good, but now it's really infrequent, the guy is busy, and it's really hit and miss.

Best: PBF and Penny Arcade (when it's about videogames except WoW).

Worst?  I think this is pretty hard to compare, since horrible webcomics come in droves.  Probably of the prominent ones off the top of my head, CAD and Shredded Moose are pretty horrible.  VGCats is bad most of the times, but not really as bad as much as it is really cheesy.

Best: Hmm...I like Penny  Arcade and Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. Great comics, both of them. (www.smbc-comics.com)
Worst: Ctrl-alt-del. I don't want to have to read through 1000 comics to catch up on what's going on.
