Title: Stale Move negation!
Post by: NINTENDO_PAWNAGE_RAWK on February 21, 2008, 06:05:21 AM
This is one of my least favorite things about the game. If I am trying to juggle someone with Marth's up aerial or just trying to keep mashing them off the stage with a side smash than eventually it is gonna suck! I honestly do not see that as fair with some characters like Marth because I think it gives the opponent the edge in battle. Although Marth is the only character whose graze attacks will actually do more damage instead of doing nothing, so it might balance out in the end. What do you think of this negation and how do you think it will affect game play?

I think it's epic. I am a diverse player, I pretty much play with every move. Some characters I play with I use certain moves more then others (Dr. Mario's Forward A Aerial, Link's up B, Kirby's Up A Aerial, etc.), but it shouldn't be a problem.

I really do like it when it boils down to it, however I HATE the fact that juggling with my main is a thing of the past. :(

Oh well, I can still try out Ike and Wolf.... Wait, doesn't Ike have a move he uses a ton... I think it is his side Smash... oh well. I guess this is gonna really change my Marth Practice sessions on SSBM.

Actualy, stale negation was in melee. Atleast, that's what I heard.

It doesn't matter though, it only decreases damage given. Not the knockback. Right?

I could have sworn he said that if you feel like your move is not knocking back your opponent as far as it should to try mixing it up a bit. That is the line that made me worry about my strategy.

Oh. Well then, adds a whole new strategy doesn't it?

Good thing pichu isn't in, or else MY strategy would be destroyed. D:

It was in melee. Havent you got the bonus "Stale Moves" before? I juggle with Marth, and he doesn't lose much knockback. Of course, I jump into the air to get about 3 hits while I juggle, so try that. Marth doesn't really have stale negation.

Forcing them off the edge may still happen, it's just the damage caused from it
will decrease ....atleast I think thats what Sakurai meant.

What is stale move negation?

Also in brawl if you repeatedly tap the control stick left to right quickly, your character slips...
More realistic. :)

If you keep using the same moves, you won't get a high score. This is intentional to make you use all of the moves a character has.

He doesn't like it because using moves over and over again is part of his strategy.

I don't really think it will be a problem for me. Ike probably won't get as many attacks in as some other characters so I'll probably not have any problem with it.

they may have done stale move negation for that because of characters like Marth. there are other ways to win other than that. for instance, instead of a side smash use the charged B move

it was in melee too.

take captain falcon, a 2.0 damage ratio and 3 peaches on final destination.  use side B on all of them, and only the first one will go off the top of the screen.

nothing new here.

actually i averagely only use falco's smash attacks of all kinds about 30 to maybe 40 times in a five stock match. i used to be at 60 smash attacks, but i use specials and ariels more often now

i haven't gotten "stale moves" with falco in vs. mode for a while. it's true.

i don't think everyone knows what exactly stale move negation is. they think it's when u use a certain move at least 3 or 4 consecutive times nonstop. that would ruin many combos. i think u have to at least use a move about 7 or 8 consecutive times for damage to decrease.
