Rap is just stringing rhyming words together, not really music. I'd only listen to one if it has a good beat. Actually, its the same with all gernes of music, minus country.
I listen to music for the music, not lyrics.

Don't worry what Nsiders think about rap, or any other music for that matter. Most Nsiders don't really know jack poop about music anyway.

Yes, typically with a beat and/or other musical backing, whether it be electronic or done with typical instruments. Sounds like music to me. Just because it's a different style doesn't mean it's not music.
Rap is wack, yo!
Because they think the stuff on the radio is the best rap has to offer when it's far from the truth. The radio often plays some of the most horrible rap to be uttered.
If they took the effort to actually look for the real stuff they'd see that it's a great genre.

I just don't like it. Don't really have a reason why.
I percieve it as mediocre poetry to an electronica beat that is slowed to a crawl, or at least beyond the point where it could be even considered house. Since I enjoy hardcore/freeform/gabber and other types of quite speedy music, anything like that annoys me. And for rap that does have a decent beat...it has to be funny for me to like it. Most lyrics (even those said to not be the stereotypical "gangsta" type) in rap "songs" are entirely not my style at all, and I can't relate to most of them. Not that I can relate to some of the ridiculous crap that is used in happy hardcore songs, but...you get my point.

Thread over. Go home.
I don't listen to it because I really just don't like the whole culture behind the genre, nor do I like the genre itself... I liked eminem back in the day.
back in the day.
nor do I like hip-hop generally these days... it's mostly the same beat over and over again (OVER AND OVER AGAIN).
electro pop is where it's at (hot chip ftw)
Making generalizations about anything is always a dumb thing to do. I'm not the biggest fan of rap music but there are some catchy songs that i hate to love and there are others the are pretty good music. Overall, music is music, there's bad and good in every genre.
Despite me living/growing/raised and a community that listens to nothing BUT Rap music,
I just don't like it.
To me personally it's so negative. (not saying any other kind of music can be negative) but..
I can't relate to rap.
I don't have the need nor want to do what they rap/sing about.
Guns, girls, drugs, murder wth! ...
Now, I'm open minded enough to know that not all rap is about what I listed, but the majority seems to be.
It's all the same......
And anyway, I don't "Hate" rap, I just really dislike it. And if I can never listen to it again, I swear I'd never.

Hm, I'll say this though: rap is good in fast-paced electronica. For example, I'm listening to "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT" by DJ Sharpnel right now. It's basically a speedy hardcore remix of some otherwise second-rate rap song, but it's just amazing when sped up to chipmunk speed.

You are completely and utterly misinformed, my friend.
For one, Lollipop shouldn't even be considered as Wayne, because it's a new style he's trying out. He's using a new electronic voice "synthesizer", much like the one T-Pain uses, to add imposed layers to his voice,
but only in that one song. The rest of his music is darn good, if I say so myself.
And if you think that's worse than ABB or SB...that's sad. :x

I dislike how people obnoxiously blast it on their car stereos or iPods. As long as I don't have to hear it, I don't give a f*** really.
Amen

That must really suck
I really dont like music in the first place :P
i don't know what I was thinking when I said there's no christian rap, because I knew there was. o_O
you don't have to have any inscentive to find any non-muslim terrorists, but at the same time, you don't have to treat any muslims you see as terrorists. I don't go out looking for rap, but when it's playing, I won't shut an ear to it just because it is rap.
johnny cash is the only country music that I can stand to hear. everything else is poop.
I don't care if others listen to rap. I just don't like the genre. I prefer something with more music behind it, i guess.

There, now add swearing and a beat and it's rap.
Rap is boring, it repeats two or more lines, and it irritates me.
That sounds AWSOME!!!
Fo shizzle my pizzle.
You're all retarded if you generalize about rap.
Not all rap is about gangz, drugz, seckz and moneyz. Today, most of it is, but it began as something else. It began as something anyone could have fun with - whether you're dancing, rhyming, or making beats. 25 years ago, most rap didn't have immoral lyrics. It was all fun, usually meaningless, but not in a bad way.
Lyrics really give rap a bad reputation. A lot of rap haters like rock or metal or somethin' like that. My favorite band is Guns N' Roses. Listne to Appetite For Destruction - it's just as dirty (or even dirtier) than the typical gangsta bling-bling rap album is today.
Rap CAN be artistic and also can not, like all music. I really hate what rap has become. Poetry is an art, and there's alsoa bit of art into making a good beat.
Y'know what's funny? People who bash rap, yet listen to Linkin Park, MCR, AFI, and the like.

I just haven't found any rap that I really like, and I have no reason to go looking for it, because I love my electro pop as it is.
it's not that I hate the genre, it's that I have no reason to like it.

I posted some lyrics from "You're Crazy" earlier in the thread using that exact example. 8)
I hate most rap because it is made by ignorant blacks.

I swear that's the most disgusting song I've ever heard.
I don't even have to listen to the lyrics to think it's disgusting.
I just don't get how anyone can even listen to the song? His voice is just irritating. Maybe he'd be more appealing to dogs...
If supposedly this guy is so great, which I heard from a friend, this song would completely turn me away from looking into his music. It's quite possibly one of the worst songs I have ever heard and this includes Soulja Boy and Ay Bay Bay.
You are completely and utterly misinformed, my friend.
For one, Lollipop shouldn't even be considered as Wayne, because it's a new style he's trying out. He's using a new electronic voice "synthesizer", much like the one T-Pain uses, to add imposed layers to his voice, but only in that one song. The rest of his music is dang good, if I say so myself.
And if you think that's worse than ABB or SB...that's sad. :x
I've really never heard any of his other music so I can't judge if he is good or not, I was just saying how that song would turn me away from his music.
Thanks for clarifying that it was something different and it's not like the rest of his music.
That song just really annoys me and all those songs suck to me.
