It would seem that for the most part, when people fight (and when I mean people, I mean US as in NSF'ers fighting eachother) eachother, there are times where....
sadly we have to leave.
Reasons being doorbell, somebody calling us, telephone ringing etc...
It happens to us all, and it is THE most annoying thing.
IMHO I think we ALL need to agree/discuss a way to let "everybody knows who's currently fighting in a Brawl" that, THAT person has left there tv.
Standard motion is for a character to stand on the far Left or Right side of a stage
and press the "down" arrow repeatedly showing that, "hey, I have to brb" etc...
How many people have done this?
Usually when a person does this, it's to show signs of that person laughing or something along those lines...maybe motions of Victory!
Cause trust me, other then leaving your tv while in the midst of a brawl the next most annoying thing that could ever happen to you is some N00B KO'ing you while you never had the chance to defend yourself.
(you know who you are you shameless attackers).
*All I'm saying is that when we DO have to leave for a short/emergency notice
that we DO go on the far left or right side of the stage and press down a few times...that way, nobody will attack you (and hopefully the fighting will just stop until that person who left comes back).
Of course you can't just say you leave, and think of a way to attack by sneaking a hit... you'll lose your trust for fighting people.
We must honor the Honor system!
Heh, of course you can be an A-hole and attack regardless, thats your choice, ...I guarantee you'll be the target of a lot of people when fighting in a full force Brawl.
Thoughts/Opinions?
What are other ways do you think can we communicate with eachother when we have to leave.
Me personally, I do go on the far left or right side of the stage and press down a few time, but I make my character "Lean" over the edge to where he/she about to fall ((But he/she doesn't)), that to me is showing a distress stage to let everybody know, I'm Vulnerable because I left my tv, so don't attack me.
**Saying BRB in TAUNTS really doesn't WORK.
>__>
___
Oh and I forgot to Add, if a Random Bob-omb walks your way or somebody runs past you and puts a sticky Bomb (or gooey) on you, it's your own Fault! :P
Try to BRB in a safe place if possible???
lol
THAT'S.... Actually really good ;D
It would help for serious Brawls too, like in a tournament or one of those matches in the thread with the latter.
Nice thinking ;)
I agree with you. There needs to be some way to either spread this message further or just find a different way to make it clear that you will "brb"

Of course this would be a "Universal Language" of NSF...
I'm really sure other forums won't really follow such a rule, but because we are a small yet steady and growing community, I think something like this is fairly easy to use and remember.
Me and Darklink140 do this all the time. :D

I didn't expect us to get this to EVERYONE EVERYWHERE, but it is good for serious matches like I said. Or, if your having a 30 stock battle
EDIT: It would just be bad, because the opponent wouldn't let you to the edge, or it was a match that changed and killed you, that would be bad

Surly, if a person is BY the edge you can go to another, or get as close as possible and do the motions of BRB.
Of course LOL...... if your on Samus stage (I forgot what you call it) and the stage flips upside down then of course it's your loss...... or even my beloved Mario Bros Stage.... well sorta. :D
Star. I agree with every word you just said and think that this could be the solution to our match interrupting problems. You should float this so it doesn't get bumped down. Then everyone who hasn't had a chance to read this won't miss it. A job well done :)
I use taunts, and anyone I have played has understood. Then again, what is hard understanding "BRB!"

Well heres the thing with the BRB.
People use it when they Taunt, the fight stops.... but then the person who uses BRB Attacks usually resulting in a KO or an unwanted advantage.
Plus, I like taunts...for teasing or for making a funny comment during a funny situation, I don't want to lose a Taunt Slot with "BRB".
When I leave I usually run to the other side and duck down a few times.

Some of us don't care if we lost a slot though, that is why making a "code" never has, and never will work.

You never know Until you try however.
It's an idea/concept I think people can work into there fighting style Just in case something does come up.
If you don't mind saying BRB in a taunt slot, thats perfectly fine, thats totally up to you.
*However, to say how "it" won't work with out even trying really defeats the purpose of trying anything.
This is something that is gonna take a while for everybody to do (which is fine), I just think it's a good way to communicate when something comes up. Because as I said, being interrupted while fighting is annoying... it's unavoidable, but it can atleast help people out.
Also, it's not a "code" it's a "gesture" or "motion" so to speak.
And, I am not forcing/telling people to do it either.
Trying to help, that is all.

I'd rather just do a continuous movement.
Oh, so THIS (http://nsf.projectfcd.com/index.php?topic=21272.0) was clearly a success/not where you got the idea from?

To say thats where I got the idea well, it may look that way but I had no idea
a thread like that even existed let a lone that thread maker and I had the same intention in mine when it came to "BRB'ing" through battling. Don't be so quick to accuse :robotindifferent: and point your accusation.
Whether it failed or not is of little concern to me personally. Even if Reminding people that they could "do this" is good enough in itself when it comes to communicating.
People can still try...heck, I'll even put it in the 1st post in that FC thread here so people Will know about "BRB'ing" while fighting.
___
And also, if people from NSF smash board can come to this thread and all agree
on way of saying "BRB"...just doing that 1 thing that would let everybody know, I think us as a whole have accomplished stability...even while fighting in a way.
You are assuming I am accusing you. The fact the mod that never leaves this board missed that thread is 100% believable. On top of that, one that is innocent would clearly get so offended. My point, I don't care whether or not you stole it, really, for all I know you and them are psychic twins, or you are both brilliant thinkers, however, not only has it failed once, it will likely fail again....which was the point of this little exercise. However, should you choose to take offense, feel free to. I don't care. Give it a try, and we will see if it succeeds, yet I doubt it.

I've seen this before, so I'm not going to trickle down "that" road.

But, no I'm not offended...I'm only offended if somebody starts slinging insults with out any reasons or just being ignorant.
I leave this board, not as often as others, but I do leave.
I never said I was innocent Lol.
I'm just saying to give it a try, I however don't care if it works or not, people do it, good, people don't oh well. I just thought it could be something that could help everybody, as I said many times.
___
Now say what you wish to say and we will end it at that.
Whether it be a success or not, atleast I tried. :)
Trying is a wonderful thing, I have respect for those that try, but as I said, it has been done once before, and flat out failed. What makes you any different? And as I said, I tried it, don't like it, I use taunts, yet all the response I get is that I am ignorant, or some other such remark. No, I just know people, and people aren't going to learn sign language to play a game, no matter what the game. That is the point of this. That is the summary. And that is the bottom line.
As for trickling down roads, seeing as you are choosing to sling arrows under no provocation, you can elaborate further, otherwise, retract the statement.

You like to debate about things you may not agree upon, such as this
thread for example.
I've seen similar comments in that stupid NS2 thread on Power On here, and in chat a good while ago. Plus, I've talked to you in chat before and I Kind'a know how you are. I'm not up to a debate to where it goes back and forth (not now atleast) so thats why I myself atleast wanted to just stop talking about it for now.
You may be right about the sign language failing (I never thought of it being called sign language before), but that doesn't matter to me at all. :)
I could be wrong and fail 100%, it won't Change a thing. :P
What have you tried that made "them" think your ignorant though?
I hate stupid people.
-_-
*Oh, and thats your bottom line, not anybody else's, seeing as that nobody can speak for "everybody".
**Edit
Maybe it doesn't work well on a Full Force Brawl.
but it more then likely will work on 1 on 1, especially if somebody challenges somebody else.

Kyle has a big ego when it comes to debating, which tends to be annoying. Anyways it failed in the past get over it, this is the present.

Meh... sounds okay.
But I don't pay enough attention to notice the movement! :D
We could taunt to signify a starting of the game again.
Mack's being a Natzi again :(
I'll for one try and implement this, we won't know if it is useful unless we try.
I'm sorry but I have gotten so used to it meaning I lost because of you know who. It won't work for me.
Ha yea, I know what you mean. I know I've done that before, as many of you who played me have seen. It's the most efficient way, IMO. Nothing else seems to work. -_-

I love All Star!
Reminds me of the good ol' 90's. :)
I like the Idea but I dont like crouching repeatedly as a solution. I use that as a taunt.
How about these:
1. Go to the edge of the stage and tap the shield button 2 or 3 times.
2. Do a specified taunt direction. (Like everybody uses thier up taunt to indicate BRB or everybody uses thier left taunt to indicate brb.)
3. Ground dodge a couple of times.
4. Jump (Short hop) and air dodge.
5. Use a smash attack nowhere near the opponit.
How do those sound?
