Simple question, answer wisely. Items on, or off? You know my answer.
/me turns the light off and closes the door.
Items can be fun in parties. Off if it's a serious tourney match. While it takes skill to use most of 'em, it doesn't for them to appear right next to you. If a bomb-omb spawns on you as you are doing you're KO move on the enemy, and you suicide, that is pretty unfair <,<
I agree with Phanto m as I'm sure everyone else will too.
Meelee: Items on, excluding a few, such as Bomb-omb, Beam Sword, Flipper, Poisen Mushroom and Super Mushroom, and some others. I find it funner this way.
Brawl: Items off. It's far better without them, considering that I love them in Meelee. Maybe it's because of the items present? ????
I have to agree with Phantom. Items ON for fun matches. Items OFF for serious matches such as tourney
Items Fun and No Items Serious.
If you want to show true skill and how good you REALLY are turn the items off, but if you want to just have fun with the game turn them On. I usually keep items on but I sometimes turn them off.
If there are more than two players (team matches excluded), then items are fine.
But I don't like them in 1v1, its too annoying for me.
I prefer items off.

I agree, for sure...
Also, I hate how the items are in Brawl, anyways.
Turn only certain items off, like starmen, smart bombs, bob-ombs, gooey bombs, Smash Balls, and Pok?balls if you want a more serious match, but I prefer items myself. Luck and item skill should be a factor in matches outside of tournaments. After all, you could be excellent without items, but maybe you can't use the items effectively as everyone else. The items also add a little of a surprise and extra strategical elements to the matches.
No items in 1 v 1 unless its ULTIMATE 2X DAMAGE HANDICAP HIGH TIME MATCHES FOR COINS.
But really, I prefer them off even in groups.
Most of the time I perfer no items. Especially online.
But sometimes if I feel like it I'll put them in
Phantom just answered for everyone, I guess :P

That was the greatest match of all time. You can't forget norfair though.
And of course, no items for me in 1v1s. I don't mind them too much in groups, though like hta, I still prefer them off.
I prefer them OFF on 1 vs 1 matches. If there more than 2 players, ON eould be more entertaining.
I never have them on.
I almost always have them on, but when I do my training routines, I always put Smash Balls only on Medium.
If there are more than 3 people in the group, I will have Items ON. But if it's one on one, Off with them.
I usually have them off.
Not much of a debate her MoM.
Probably because those who prefer them "off" make such good/strong/valid points.
I of course prefer them Off.
Because of a reason nobody here seemed to say.
To me, a victory means more to me personally by me KO'ing my oppenent with my own skills/mind games, over letting an item (which I consider a handicap no matter What it is) help me win.
Victory by hands > Victory with help

...What good/strong/valid points? The general consensus is fine in grouped and fun matches, but off for serious and 1vs1.
Anyway, I follow the general consensus. There's just something great in the feeling you get through "Death-By-Bumper", but it essentially turns into a race in 1vs1.

My Opinion, but I think they are good/valid/strong points.
I feel differently though, about the bumper, ah oh well.
i used to be an items guy but the abundance of pokeballs, ATs, and final smash orbs takes away from people with skill. i prefer to kill my opponent and not give them a chance what-so-ever just because they might get lucky with a final smash
I turn them off, they get annoying sometimes
oh come on items off ruins the spirit of the game. Oh and phanto there is no such thing as unfair items in smash bros. Maybe unfair characters *cough*pit*cough*

I'm contemplating banning you for sheer stupidity.
Item's themselves are unfair, every single one of them. Unless you both get the exact same thing at the exact same thing, it gives the other person the advantage.
And the only character who could be considered unfair in the LEAST is Snake, and he's still nowhere near broken like Akuma or Sentential.

Calm down Dawei.
You don't want to ban someone for having an opinion.

Except when the opinion is wrong.
It wasn't directed at his first comment, on how no items makes the game less fun, it was at the "no item is unfair" and that pit was OP.

It could be much worse.

But here at nsf, all the staff is insanely corrupt. Banning for little or no reason isn't just a hobby, it's a passion.
99% I have them off. In the rare time I happen to have pals over and just want to freaken mess around I'll turn them on, VERY HIGH and on crazy stages like Big Blue and Pictochat. Just to mess around.
Otherwise no items
Sometimes its a nice change to play on an illegal stage with Smashballs and dragoon parts on high. sometimes...
