Thank you, Mr. Miyamoto for not skipping over answers and telling the truth, yet again.
Directly quoting him:
"I think that there?s probably one other element to it, and that?s that our view of how we use E3 has changed. For a very long time, E3 was an event where ? and certainly Nintendo included ? catered specifically to the core gamer. Now we look at more ? an opportunity for us to introduce new concepts and new types of play that we intend to bring to the broader audience, particularly because of the media that gathers at E3 now."
More interestingly, he said this:
"So while attending an E3 event like this, they (the gaming press and core gamers) might be given the impression that Nintendo is no longer focusing on the games that appeal to the core gamer, in fact we?re still working on many of those titles, but it?s just not the type of event where we?ll be showcasing that anymore."
Hopefully this will mean bigger announcements at their Media Summits or for heavens sake, mean they will actually attend TGS.
Spaceworld 2009, anyone? :P
see, they did not forget the hardcore gamers
I wish they had said that before they came out and showed us WiiMusic and Resort...
Or promised us a hardcore game at this E3.
Good job Miyamoto. I guess he really knows what he is doing. Or the interview is fake....

Not necessarily. Some of the dialogue could have been made up. Conspiracy.
Thank god for Miyamoto...he seems to be the only one who cares anymore...
Like the other statement, if they had just said that then everyting would've been fine rather than blatantly ignoring us.
Miyamoto FTW

we're not getting anything this year....besides maybe Wario Land...
Conduit is next year, and thats the only confirmed game we got any info on. Zelda is going to take at least 2 more years....it always does, and god nows how far along Pikmin is....

By stuff to look forward to, I meant announcements of 2009 games. That said, Wario Land: Shake It looks awesome.
Since E3 isn't their forte for core gamers anymore, I'm guessing they will have SOME presence at TGS.

They've always hated TGS...so I doubt it. If it isnt soley about them they don't seem to give a poop anymore...they're such egotists.
I'm guessing there's no chance they'll announce anything at Comicon/Penny Arcade Expo?

No, they don't go to Comicon because they don't think the event is a fit for them and they save public events for mostly demos.
Am I the only one who finds it a bit backwards that the biggest gaming event of the year is now reserved for casual gamers? Nintendo may not be ignoring the fans and hardcore gamers, but they're definately caring less than they used to, which is pretty disappointing.
so i guess all the games that we have been waiting for can still be announced soo

Opening up to a larger fanbase isn't bad, as long as you don't forget the people who made the company what they are.
Adam Sessler put it best by saying Nintendo is the geek in one of those movies where one geek suddenly gets taken in by the "cool" crowd and completely ignores their past friends but then the geek makes one wrong move and he goes crawling back to his old friends.

Too bad the media summit isn't until mid-October and E For All isn't until late October, they moved it because PAX was the same weekend. Doubt they would even attend PAX...
Cool. I didnt really give a poop about E3 anyway. None of the conferences were that great, and Nintendo only showed around 1/4th of what they got commin (where the others showed everything)

If they didn't announce their big stuff at the biggest gaming convention in America and they refuse to attend the biggest gaming event in Japan, I'm guessing they will have their own event or be at Leipzig or maybe E For All.

You regularly post on a video game forum. I think you already are somewhat of a video game nerd.
We prefer the term "Video Game Junkie" thank you, not nerd. Or atleast I do. and what have I told you people over and over again. E3 has taken serious damage these past few years. E3 2007 was rumored to not happen, people were unsure if E3 2008 would happen.
E3 just doesn't have the same "PAZOW" as it used to. Before E3 was known throughout the video game realm as the event of the year to end all events related to video games. But now E3 is kinda just another convention the public isn't allowed in. E3 is jsut kinda like "Big Deal" now. You can see it reflected in all the companies if you can get ahold of videos from older E3 events. The reaosn Sony was able to have all those TVs this year was because it's Sony... they MAKE TVs and stuff.

Yeah, and usually near the exit, they hang a banner that says "See you next year!"
But this time, it just said, "Thanks for coming!"
