Even for JAPAN, this is creepy.
http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/08/captain-rainb-1.html (http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/08/captain-rainb-1.html)
Here are some quotes and situations from the game:
"Birdo is seen by the island's robot police officer as he/she comes out of a public toilet. (The line he delivers as he comes out: "Wow, that was huge. That was like giving birth.")"
"The officer throws him in jail for using the ladies' room when he's clearly a man. Birdo asks you to go to his/her house and find "evidence that I'm a woman." So you do. This is how it happens. As you walk into Birdo's bedroom, you hear... a buzzing. The pillow on her bed is vibrating and buzzing. You walk up to it, and Captain Rainbow looks under the pillow to find... an item that's censored out on the screen. It's covered up with a question mark. "Proof that the owner is a woman," it says, leaving it at that."
This got the equivalent of a T in Japan? D:
Thus guranteeing it will be severly edited for american audiences...

Nope, they probably won't even bother, plus they blocked the Wii Freeloader.
Of course, they could pull a Conker's Bad Fur Day and make it even more obscene for American audiences....

They need to make two versions: Uncencored and Censored.
Censored for in-stores
Uncensored for Online shops.

That's why they keep M rated games behind the shelf at places like Toys R Us, I remember when they used to be on the shelf with the rest of the games.
It seems that in the 90's, parents would scan over every game released or could potentially be released for inappropriate content, and then they would make a big deal out of it. Now, they make a big deals about games the second that they hear that it involves ANYTHING related to their list of things they don't approve of.
I'm honestly surprised Fox News hasn't reported on the game's title yet.
Maybe just a release in the Nintendo World Store and online....

I remember that in the 90's, these parent watchdog groups were mostly local and disorganized, and thus could not have much of an impact.
That changed when the Internet became popular. And when Fox News stopped trying to hide that they are fear-mongers who scare/"inform" people who don't know better. I learned that after I went back a few years ago and watched one of their reports from like November 2001 saying to "watch out for RC planes that could potentially be terrorist bombs". :|
don't even get me started of Fox *I could go on for DAYS on how intercourse in retarded O'Reilly is*
I'm actually surprised Nintendo would go there. I wish they'd leave it in for U.S. just to piss all the soccermoms off.

So.......people could watch Anime like Elfen Lied in the 90's without Christian parent's freaking out and saying, "OMG NEEKID WOMEN, LOLI-RAPE, MURDEROUS KILLINGS..."?
Wow, we got off topic.
So yeah, it's kind of like a T-rated Animal Crossing with a better art style, even more cameos, humor that American audiences either wouldn't get or like, mixed with a little bit of melee combat.
But unlike Animal Crossing, it can be beaten.
I don't know, this is starting to look like another GiFTPiA to me. Too weird for American audiences.

Nah, anime was so edited in the 1990's because the companies didn't think kids would like the original version. Pretty much only two animes were in America during the 90's. Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z, both edited to the point where they might have as well made a new anime specifically for Western audiences. Pokemon, of course, came along later, just as badly edited as those two.

It's just funny how Nintnedo went out of their way to make Birdo a girl and then they mess teh whole thing up again XD
Well, I kind of agree with them on Mortal Kombat, but not on the grounds that it's too violent (It is violent, but let me explain.)
The United States needed a video game ratings system. But even in 1993/1994, developers were very independent and basically had no rules if they could hide something well enough. By implementing a rating system, they put pressure on the consumer to make their own decisions based on their beliefs and what they want their child to see. The company could not be held responsible.
Didn't really stop the complaining, some people still think EVERY game is made for kids because they still qualify video games as toys.
In reality, they AREN'T toys anymore because not just children play them. Some parents just think that since it's a video game, it's okay for their kid to play. Parents should learn about the ESRB ratings and use them when purchasing a game for their kid.

I wonder what the Male series of a Birdo would look like.... :D
IF ANYTHING this does answer the question of what Birdo's true gender is,
which I don't see a big effin deal anyway...
It's just funny how Nintnedo went out of their way to make Birdo a girl and then they mess teh whole thing up again XD
Nintendo of America still refers to Birdo as a girl.
NCL said that Birdo was a guy who dresses up as a girl and acts like one, but they messed it up by saying it's a girl in this game.
What about Slippy Toad, Nintendo?.... ::)

A rating system was necessary, but in all honesty most of this stems from lazy parenting for the most part. Most people my age aren't as bad/evil as the news/soccermoms make us out to be.
Oh, go watch "Darknessthecurse" on Youtube, he basically yells at Fox news on his fox news rants XD

What? It's completely true.
Jack Thompson thinks the ESRB is full of morons who don't know how to do anything right and are out to get him. I personally think the ESRB works.

I freaking love that comic. XD
Oh well, I guess Nintendo of America is better off having an asexual recurring character rather than a cross dressing one. In terms of how the public would respond, of course.
Wow, apparently Slippy is a boy, because he got engaged to a female frog and had kids in one of the endings of Starfox Command. :-\

Or Halo, which REALLY shouldn't be rated M. There's NO blood, no cursing that isn't acceptable for a T rated game, the only reason it is rated T is because of the people who play online.
All of the Call of Dutys should have been rated M because of the subject matter and blood, the Halos didn't go beyond T.

Was I the only one who thought about Bluaki while reading this?
Slightly getting back to the ORIGINAL topic at hand. All I have to say is one thing and this one thing only.
If this is a 1st party game made by Nintendo and not just Nintendo allowing a 2nd or 3rd party to use their characters and allowing the go ahead on this game, then apparently the phrase "Nintendo is all kiddy stuff" or something of the sort would be inaccurate when this game is out on the market.
