Title: The New DS: The DSi
Post by: Daft Pink on October 01, 2008, 10:05:36 PM
So the rumors were true. Who would have guessed. The DSi is official now, it has been announced in the Japanese Nintendo Conference. If you're curious as to how it looks, here's a picture of it.

It seems it has all of the features named in the rumors. In case you haven't been following this, it has better wi-fi reception, mp3 playback, a built in web browser, an sd card slot, and most noticably a built in camera.

I can't wait to get one...
but the lack of GBA slot means I am going to have to either buy a DS Phat for cheap or keep my light in order to play games with GBA-DS playback  :'(

I can't wait to be able to download games on my DS... maybe there will be a virtual console for handhelds?

It'll probably be a little space to store demoes....two or three at a given time. Remember, if they won't give the Wii any storage space imagine how they'll treat the DS. At least the Web Browser is a nice advancement.
I really couldn't care less about lack of GBA slot, I never play GBA games anymore...all that does is infinately kill any hopes of Mother 3 EVER coming stateside. Thank god for Starman.net

I'm guessing that's why there is an SD slot now. I'm so glad they're going to open it up on the Wii and now this DSi for storage.  ;)

I'm just hoping that the SD card slot allows for Home brew, considering the good amount of home brew there is out now.

I don't really like the new interface, Still prefer the old style. Hoping you can choose.

Yeah, now I can...wait...Ah FREAKING HELL! I just got my replacement DS 4 or 5 months ago, and now this!? F*** f*** f*** f***!

Anyway, I'm quite happy with their choices of Wi-Fi Improvement, SD Card Slot, (????) and the built-in Web Browser. But the Camera and MP3 Playback don't seem to fit well, from my view.

I'm happy with my original DS.

But...that's a big improvement.  It still is like a DS Lite though, and I didn't like the feel of the Lite.

I doubt I'll get it. I'm still perfectly happy with my Electric Blue DS Phat, even though I haven't touched it in months...I need new games. :(

Good. My L buttons are broken. My A and B buttons aren't responding very well. My R button has little to no life left. I need a new DS.

Anyone know when this will be coming out?

WOOT! I can wait! But instead of selling my DS Lite, i'll have to keep it to play GBA games. I already sold my SP, so now I can't play Link's Awakening anymore >_>

The product won't come out in North America into "Well into 2009." According to Reggie, there is so much demand for the DS Lite in North America that there's basically no reason to sell the DS I yet.

well, at least i don't feel too bad about getting my DS lite :-\

That just means they're lazy or can't get enough systems in time for the "holiday rush" so they're not even trying for us atm.

That's it?  Really?  This is the best you could come up with Nintendo?  All this seems to be is an attempt to take the DS and add what the PSP has had for ages. 2 touch screens?  For what?  Seriously?

Oh and a camera.  Hooray.  Just what I always wanted...oh wait, I already have one.

I'll stick with the classic and Lite I have, since I hardly play them anyways.

I actually think a camera is pretty impressive add on. And if you think about it, you save them to the SD card, which may allow for better use of the Photo Channel on the Wii. Think about it. If you have a Birthday parity going on or some sort of big bash, pull out your DS, snap a bunch of pictures and photos, put them on the Wii's Photo Channel, throw on an MP3 or two and you got a great slideshow to go with the party as it starts to dwindle down.

May take better quality pictures than my cell phone anyways.

Why have you lost what little (although I think you had none to start.) respect you had? I'll just stick with my ph@t.

They should just make a brand new handheld...
Or at least some exclusive games.

Having three diffrent DS's just seems pointless to me.....

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon: A reinvention of the original NES™ titles with revamped graphics and intuitive touch control, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon will finally introduce longtime fans to the stories that gave birth to the series nearly 20 years ago in Japan, while introducing the Fire Emblem franchise to a broader audience of strategy and chess fans. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon also reveals the back story of Marth, the original lead character in the Fire Emblem series introduced and made popular in North America by the Super Smash Bros.® series of fighting games.

Mario & Luigi RPG 3: The acclaimed Mario & Luigi series returns with another hilarious action role-playing game. Join the Mario Bros. as their travels take them far and wide.

Rhythm Heaven™: If you can snap your fingers in time to music, you're ready to play this simple but infectious rhythm game. Just tap your stylus on the touch screen to the beat of the music.

Also, I know it'll take a while for it to get over here...Nintendo has never really cared about America's tastes for games so the "Lite is still selling" is just an excuse. X_X;;

I don't.  And I don't know what parties you go to, but that's incredibly lame.  If there's music playing, it's to dance to, and if the Wii is in use, it would be to play games, not look at pictures of...an hour or so earlier.

I just personally would like to see something new and innovative, not another rehash of old technology that I've already been using for the past 5-10 years.
Title: Re: The New DS: The DSi
Post by: DBY106698 on October 02, 2008, 06:23:11 PM
I'm reffering to parties more like family reunions, weddings, ect. I'm wondering if the phrase "Family Gatherings" would be a better choice of terms than "party". But then again, not everyone has 2 Nintendo Wii's in their house.

EDIT: While doing some additional research on what else was announced at the press conference BESIDES the Nintendo DSi, I came across a website that has a lot of information about the press conference as well as a video montage of various games that you can expect to see on the Nintendo DS in the future. While it is all in japanese, you can still clearly see Mario & Luigi, Final Fantasy, Wario Ware, and a new game to the Pheonix Wright series. It also shows various others. The video is approxomately 3 minutes and 22 seconds.

From what I seen in that video it don't look like they upgraded the graphical capabilities at all. I will still get this DS but if it's next gen it should be as advanced as Nintendos last console. In this case the game cube.

Bite me; this isn't serious discussion. I would have thought that Nintendo's piss-poor lineup over the past year would have spoken for itself, but alas, here I am, called back to this thread to explain myself about a fact that should have been immediately obvious. What is it on the Wii that you are so anxiously looking forward to in the immediate future? Wii Sports Resort? Wii Music? Also, perhaps you could explain to me why you're looking forward to a DS derivative without a GBA slot and the addition of a camera, which is already available on most cell phones, excites you? Ah, right. It's the SD card slot and the DS shop that's opening up. Where you'll be able to download all the old GBA games that you already own but now cannot play because of the removal of the slot.

Also, shut the intercourse  up and don't question my company loyalties. Who do you think you are, a clairvoyant? Perhaps the fact that I went to Nsider for over three years (and stuck with this forum for another year), have played virtually every first-party Nintendo franchise game, know every nuance about LoZ and the Paper Mario series, and the fact that Yoshi is in my name would have clued you in. But again, I'm placing too much faith in people.

Serious discussion or not, your post was just pathetic and sad, much as the rest of this excuse of a forum has become. And I am questioning your loyalty cause it sucks. You think having "yoshi" in your name makes you suddenly a Nintendo person? I think not. I would assume it means you like the character, which does NOT automatically mean you like the company. People can like character but not a company like people can like songs but not the band. So stick that in your arrogant pipe and smoke it.

My loyalty only extends for as long as good games continue coming out. I've given Nintendo the benefit of the doubt for the last couple of years with the Wii. There's nothing good on the horizon for at least one more. Great job blindly supporting a company that's obviously lost sight of those people that kept them alive for two generations while Sony dominated the market. None of those "Answers" of yours actually make sense, really. As for those other reasons of your "fanboyism", those for sure prove you WERE a fanboy and/or have no life. I mean seriously, to "know every nuance about LoZ and the Paper Mario series". That goes to the point of just sadness. And big deal about your Nsider experience. That really doesn't account for much.

Oh, and if you're really interested in why I still come to this disgrace of what FCD used to be, it's mostly because it is still a useful place to find out what is going on in the world of video games and hopefully be provided with multiple sources and get info at one central location. Think of this as my 1 stop shop for information video game wise. If you were to research it, you'd see my frequency of posting has slowed down considerably compared to what it once was. Really the only purpose of my posts now are to encourage people to put posts that require to actually put some thought into it and have substance to them. Even here you can see I have successfully done so with you. You started off with such a blatant waste of both time and space with that disgrace of a post, and now here you are making GOOD posts that actually required the use of your brain. So really, my work here is done.

also nice use of ahve and blatent and subject-verb agreement there champ it definitely shows how much thought and stimulation you're putting into your posts

also your post-tracker is just chock full of those great posts you're talking about

you are so right and i am just so wrong sry

but that's ok because your work here is done

And you completely missed the entire point of my post, bravo. I'm sure you feel quite the genius now, don't you? I mean, considering I said nothing about your dislike of the Wii let alone even mention the word Wii in my last post. Nope, you've 100% missed every word I said.

No where did I say you were un=intellegent, I simply said that your first post here was pathetically sad and was a thoughtless shot at a remark agaisnt Nintendo. You gave no reason or identified any way for the Nintendo DSi to cause you to lose your respect for Nintendo while everyone else here is posting their likes and dislikes about the system without any snide remarks, commenting on the system itself with full descriptions and reason for their like or dislike of the Nintendo DSi

What I have done here is got you to make posts that were more thorough and well explained, got you to give some details and give your posts some body, the simple basics your 1st post lacked. So yes, my job here is done.
