Maybe the protection for homebrew got better as well.
It auto updated for me while I was sitting in the wii menu.. o_O
Actually, it offers more protection from homebrew, but supposedly the bannerbomb hack still works.
I just happened to read about this update yesterday, of course with that article at the time saying it's Japan-only. That article mentioned that before the update there was some weird glitch caused by booting a WiiWare game, returning to the Wii Menu, then booting a game which uses MotionPlus or something like that. I don't think it gave any additional significant details.
Thanks Nintendo for sending this to me at 1 in the morning while I was trying to sleep. DO IT DURING THE DAY PLEASE! *has bags under eyes after yet another horrible nights sleep*
Updated this morning.
I was hoping for a little more of an update though >_>
Dunno if it's relevant now, but after updating, my Wii can read discs again. ._.

Eh, I unplug my wii overnight, the first repair I had to due was due to the wii actually MELTING from leaving it on wiiconnect overnight, I could actually smell the melting and it would not turn on anymore.

Or Nintendo could not have a light or do it during the daytime so this issue is never a problem X_X:;
Im pretty sure there is an option to turn the light off, or at least dim it.

It's still a terrible idea. Why can't there just be one inbox like every other system instead of a day by day calendar thing... X_X;;

It doesn't happen very often, I just wish Nintendo was considerate/smart enough to not send these things at midnight/1am when some people have the system in the room they sleep in. Would delaying it half a day to do it at noon or something too much to ask for?

For the last time, just go to the options and turn the (BEEP) light off! -_-
Hold the power button ON the Wii and it will turn off all the way to a red light, then it won't turn back on to update.
Mine still hasn't updated.

My guess is that you haven't accepted WiiConnect24 yet.
Try to update it manually.

It's a freaking light. It's not Nintendo's fault you wake up at 2 AM to find your Wii glowing. Just turn it off, it's not like you play the gosh darn thing that much.
But that blue light won't turn on AT ALL if you hold the power button long enough (On the Wii, not the controller).

Gives my room a beautiful blue/glow feeling.

That made me laugh. Actually this update allows for more options to install homebrew and use cool applications and themes for your wii menu. It just removes the twilight hack way of installing homebrew (save file), which can be done on an updated wii using bannerbomb.
