Thanks to Netflix, my eyes have been opened up to anime. Granted I haven't gotten into the most popular stuff yet (Bleach, etc), there were a few I've watched strictly out of curiosity and absolutely loved. The only problem is... I get into these shows... then am immensely disappointed with the fact that they've been canceled.
Air Gear is my current favorite. So sad that they stopped at 25 episodes. ;_;
I've watched Sekirei all the way through, Elfen Lied all the way through (good intercourse ing god this poop was depressing).
Oh! Edo Rocket is what I'm watching now. It's weird.

Note: I don't like reading mangas or watching subbed shows. In Sekirei's case, there are two seasons I haven't watched because they haven't been dubbed yet. In Air Gears case, there are over 300 chapters in manga, 170something English, and I refuse to read them. D:

Black Butler is good. I think someone mentioned earlier under its Japanese name... The show appeals mostly to girls, though. However, I've gotten Zero to watch a bit of it and he liked it.
I read the Soul Eater manga and began to watch a bit of the anime. It seems good so far. I've been told that after a while the plot of the anime deviates from the one in the manga, though. One of my friends told me flat out not to watch it because of that. Not that I'm listening.
Alsooo... I started watching Trinity Blood. And when I say started I mean I've only seen like the first two episodes so far so I can't say much about it yet. Only that I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I watched the show religiously when I was younger, I always tried to figure out who did it before they reveal it. That show was the poop.
But I'm not a manga/subtitle guy, so I never followed the full series. D:

That's no excuse, really. Yu Yu Hakusho is an amazing anime regardless of whether you watch it subtitled or dubbed. Especially since the English dub is excellent. I highly recommend it.

I might take you up on that, but I am always skeptical of dubs since they rarely have better voice actors than subs (Black Lagoon is an exception to that statement.)

I have found that Funimation typically does a good job at dubbing anime. There are some exceptions, of course, but for the most part I'm satisfied with their work. Yu Yu Hakusho happens to have three of my favorite voice actors in its main cast.

So I shouldn't try to learn any Japanese (and or insert any language that you watch in that is not English) and only listen to things in my language? I think I learn enough English from everything else around me thank you very much.

Subs aren't culture, they're language. It'd be multilingual, I guess, if you were using the subs to learn Japanese. Otherwise it just means you want to read and hear the original voices.

Exactly. If I land a lofty tech job and have to outsource to other countries, it would be good for business to learn THEIR language instead of forcing them to speak English. TV shows, cartoons, and animes are probably some of the funnest ways to learn a different language, imo.
Have any of you guys heard of the anime Mushi-shi? One of my friends introduced me to it and it's great. It's kind of like an anime version of The Twilight Zone in that it's a kind of sci-fi/fantasy/horror drama and there's no continuity between episodes (as far as I can tell); they're separate stories--although one character is in all of them and I think that there are some other recurring characters. It's worth checking out.

Mushishi is awesome. One of my favourites, that's for sure.

From what I've seen, I like it. I've only watched a few episodes of it, though. It's pretty funny, has interesting characters, and plenty of action.
