I think that because the video game companies are expanding with new next-gen games, video games will be an art as well as entertainment.

Art is not just paintings and the like.  Art is expression in media, and some media also happens to be interactive.  Interactivity means that you can actively take part in the expression of the creator, which actually would make it more engaging as an art form that painting and even film.
