Our hospitals aren't always speedy either.  I had to go get a chest x-ray once and had to wait several hours to get in.  And it wasn't cheap either.  Even though the x-ray itself took all in 10 minutes to do.

oftentimes when i break/injure a limb (broken arms, sprained wrists, ankles) i have to wait 3+ hours in the ER alone.

I haven't had that issue, so I wouldn't know how long I'd end up waiting.  Neither system works effectively.  I think having a mix of the two works the best.

As a point, we're one of the highest taxed nations in the world, so, we pay for the services, we just don't pay per visit, or anything of the like. And these faults happen all the time, in every country, so, it isn't just Canada, I did some research, and found similar articles in the UK, Japan, and the US. It's merely the worker shortage, in my books.

I know the US's system is flawed as well, but a mix of the two seems to solve at least a few problems.
