Whats your definition of hardcore?

Hardcore games are anything, IMO, that can be taken seriously or gamed competitively. Hardcore-ness doesn't really depend on blood, but it helps.

Counter-Strike: Source wouldn't be the same if, when a terrorist gets shot, if he spat out bunnies instead of blood.

The only things I find hardcore are the punishments given in Hell for the Seven Deadly Sins. That's all I find as "hardcore".

In video games, I'd say that Mortal Kombat tops the list.
