I'm thinking about just putting something heavy in the trunk so my back tires get better traction.

Put a funeral casket, it'll be convenient.

The weight would be dominant in the back, which would hardly improve overall tire traction. The weight would have to be evenly distributed for it to be effective.

But the engine makes it unbalanced in the front, so weight in the back would balance it out more.

Yeah, snow is annoying. My dad put me through this extreme defensive driving course before I got my license, though, so I'm well prepared for snow or ice. Well, also, I live in Minneapolis. :|

The only real trick is to hit the breaks and steer so you swing the end of the car rather than move the front.
