I was really bummed out about no 1v1 and everything being anonymous. But. I'll say it again, BUT, the whole picture might not be shown to us till the very end. One screenshot showsthe wii connecting to wifi, and the next shows friend and random battles. Maybe, just maybe, there is an additional menu between the two... An option for ranked and unranked battles! Maybe there is a ranked system, and Sakurai doesn't want to tell us cause he's an oddball. Since friend matches are unranked in any game, it makes sense to group it with the other unranked events... There could be, for all we know, a menu between the two screenshots to choose ranked or unranked. Remember, we do have online nicknames, still... and that does give some probability to ranked play... What do you guys think?

i heard thats one of the reasons for the delay...

Well, you can tell they have already redone the wifi menus, because on the very first wifi update ever, there is no options menu at the bottom of the screen like there is in today's wifi update, so they have obviously been working on it...

i would love online ranking. i mean i could enjoy the game without it but it would be pretty cool.

I think this confirms no rankings:

"There will also be no battle records kept for this mode, so whether you win or lose, it doesn't matter. Just sit back and play."

I hope that's true; I'll be able to enjoy my friend matches more. x3

Yeah... they really need a ranked mode. That's pretty much what keeps people to stay in all other only games.

The game lost all hope for good online play when Sakurai announced that they would be using friend codes and all players who you meet that aren't on your friends will be anonymous. This is just Nintendo being overprotective again which really needs to stop.

I just find it funny a SOCCER game has rankings and Brawl won't. :D

Yeah, well "As many of you may have already heard, we have had to delay the launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl by just a little bit—it will now be launching on February 10th in the Americas." means that Sakurai doens't always stick to his word.

But Sakurai might only be talking about unranked matches... I'm saying that there may be a totally different section for ranked... A menu that has been totally skipped so far.
