Not very unlike yours. I'm in high school and I don't ever show any temper because I've gotten used to not caring at all what others say. People seem just as immature as in middle school for some reason :-X

You know what's odd, every year, I see kids actually getting LESS mature.

k, here's what you do:
Don't care about what other people say. Ever.
Once you've got that down, look for people with similar interests as you, and you'll make friends.

In terms of maturity, middle school is the worst. Kids are starting to get hormonal, and they still haven't gained any semblance of maturity. Things improved a bit in high school, there was a clique for everything, and (unless you were an idiot football player or cheerleader), everyone left everyone else alone.

I currently go to a small college, and pretty much everyone not only tolerates everyone else, but gets along quite well--the school is full of smart kids with a couple small grade blemishes on their HS record, and everyone is kind of socially awkward. Also, you're considered an idiot if you pick on the freshmen.

I dislike it because the people that I'm constantly surrounded by are for the most part either incompetent unpeople who only know how to jack off and play hockey, incompetent unpeople who are religious zealots, or incompetent and rich unpeople who can't shut the f*** up. I have a very hard time engaging in interesting -- let alone intelligent -- conversation with anyone save for two or three people who are my friends, and the social attitude in general (which can by summarized by the words ignorance and wherewithal) is something I utterly despise.

My classes bore me and between bouts of sleep I very nearly erupt in rants about how f***ed up everyone around me is. The school gives the fine arts departments almost no funding.

Fortunately I only have to listen to the endless drivel for six and a half hours a day, and afterwards I occupy myself in more ideal social markets such as Minneapolis' local music or neighboring schools that actually contain respectable people.

Edit: Oh, by the way, per your problem, just stare into your antagonist's eyes, smile, and know that you are better than them. The people who are different than the crowd are typically the ones who have some sense of reality about them (that's you), so don't let people get you down. Let them do what they'd like, but they've only truly won when you have more than passing thoughts about them.

I'm doing fine in my current schooling at my community college but I can relate to your experiences in middle school.

In middle school is the only time I have ever been bullied and I was on numerous occasions. I had my worst teachers at my middle school, and I hardly made any new friends, and a lot of childhood friends I made started to drift away. I was alone, emotionally scarred and frustrated pretty much all through that system.

My high school years were leagues better. It seemed that some jerks grew up, I was appreciated more and the teachers were the best I've had.

Our school has a bunch of cool people and a bunch of people that think they're cool.  Also, there's irony in our school a lot...take, for example, the fact that my Health class is the most smoker-breath-filled class that I'm currently taking ._.

High school seems worse, because people are just as or more immature than middle schoolers, and worse...they can drive.
IT'S A BAD MIX.
My school life is boring, though, because I never talk to anyone.
Mainly because I hate them all. ^____________________________^
There's a few exceptions, though.
