I hate 3rd parties!!!  This is supposed to be a Nintendo thing.  It takes the meaning away from the title.  If it's called Smash Brothers how can Mario and Sonic be brothers if they were created by two different companies?   >:(  Plus Snake and Sonic were the only worthy 3rd parties so who else could get in?  Sakurai isn't going to go crazy with these guests.  We're probably going to get one more.
