My friend who is a total Microsoft fanboy listed these.

Reasons why Pidgin fails:

1.  No winks
2.  No voice clips
3.  no nudges
4.  no voice/video chat
5.  annoying messages telling you whenever someone is online or offline
6.  its not live (as in Windows Live Messanger)
7.  unknown publisher
8.  borks often

Now, his reasons why Windows Live Messanger is superior

1. winks
2. voice clips
3.  nudges
4.  voice/video chat
5.  it IS live
7.  known publisher
8. does not bork
9.  i skipped 6
