To play Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn do I have to have played Fire Emblem PoR?

I've never played PoR, but I really wanted to, and Radiant Dawn is one of the reasons why I'm even interested in the Wii, so should I purchase a Wii and get both PoR and Radiant Dawn?

Nintendno has confirmed that to understand the story you will not need PoR at all. However it may help you more and such.

Yeah, that's exactly what you should do. Go ahead and purchase a Wii now, if you can, and pick up a (preferably bargin bin) copy of Path of Radiance. Play through it, and then when November 9th rolls around, you'll be all set for RD (which, I should hope, will be far better than PoR).

you don't have to play Por to under stand RD, but it does help, so yes get both
