I think pretty much everyone up to Sonic Adventure 2 would be "original" then.

It's not like Mario Party.
It's somewhat similar to Wii Sports, except that it has way more than just 5 or so sports and has Mario and Sonic characters added on top of Miis.

I'm pretty sure Brawl's Subspace Emissary counts as a platforming...
