Background InfoRay 01 is a Robo that had been top secret until a bunch of thieves raid the lab and you are summoned to stop the thieves and retrieve Ray 01. Ray 01 is the first Custom Robo you can use and is equipped with only standard items.

He is a very well balanced Shining Fighter type Robo. Shining Fighters are one of the best Robo Classes in the game, boasting balanced statistics and smoothing playing style.

The objective of Custom Robo is to clash battles between Robos tha you customize with various weapons, parts, accessories, etc. The series has 5 games in total (only 2 in the U.S.) and has become fairly popular among some.

Inclusion in Brawl
Lots of people want Ray 01 to be included, and let's see why.

1. Ray would certainly introduce a new franchise to Smash Bros., bringing in some stages, items, assist trophies, etc. along with him.

2. Ray is a born fighter. He comes from a game where all you do is fight... He was meant for Smash Bros.

3. His playing style would be unique. Ray boasts a vast number of artillery that few characters (even Link) possess.

Common Arguments
Of course, we have the haters.

1. This one has been considered junk now, but some people still insist upon him not appearing simply because of his size. Okay, we got Captain Olimar. He's the size of a quarter, but in Smash Bros., he easily stands as tall as maybe Kirby or Mario. Robos are a foot tall, so ray could easily be resized to become as tall as, say, Mewtwo.

2. Also, some people say that his armor, apparently, is too detailed for Brawl. What the......... Don't know where you people are getting this. The Wii can surely handle the amount of "vast detail"...

Ray 01 in Brawl
Ray is a Shining Fighter Robo, which means balanced stats. He would still retain that title in Brawl, having stats that are well-balanced and fit for anyone to play as.

The thing that really sticks out about Ray, though, is his arsenal of Robo weapons. He has guns, bombs, pods, boot thrusters, etc. Ray would be a force to be reckoned with.

Ray's weight would be on the heavier side, with all the metal and armor. It would be sure to make him heavy. Not too heavy, but not too light, either.

Special Moves

B: Basic Gun - This move is exactly what it sounds like. Repeatedly press B to keep firing. Ray fires forward fat beams that knock opponents back. After 6 shots, Ray must reload briefly. The Up Taunt can also be used to reload. Ray does not reload shots automatically when the gun is put away.

Smash B: Standard Bomb - Press B once to aim, and again to fire. Ray will fire a flaming bullet that will explode on impact with anything. After 3 shots, Ray must reload briefly. The Down Taunt can also be used to reload. Ray does not reload shots automatically when the gun is put away.

Down B: Gatling Gun - Press B once to aim and hold it to fire. Ray pulls out a Gatling Gun and starts firing with a long stream of small lasers (not bullets ;)). After a round is exhausted, Ray must briefly reload. The Down Taunt can be used to reload. Ray does not reload shots automatically when the gun is put away.

Up B: Seeker Pod - Ray pulls out a Seeker Pod and hangs on to it. Use the control stick to direct its flight path. After about 2.5 - 3 seconds, the Seeker Pod will explode, sending ray flying in the direction that the pod was facing. The explosion can hurt opponents, but not Ray. Also, if the Pod touches a surface of opponent before exploding, the Pod will instantly explode on contact with the surface or opponent.

Final Smash: Ray Warrior - Ray transforms into his upgraded model, Ray warrior (pictured below). Ray's attack, defense, speed, jumping, and attacking speed will all be increased. Also, his Special Moves become upgraded.
___________________________________
B (Ray Warrior): Wyrm Gun - Repeatedly press B to keep firing. Ray will continuously fire forward purple dragons, which zip forward, damaging all foes in their paths. Use the control stick to angle your shots upon firing. Has infinite ammo.

Smash B (Ray Warrior): Delta Bomb - Press B once to aim, and again to fire. Ray fires three rockets at a time which home in on nearby foes, and explode on impact. Has infinite ammo.

Down B (Ray Warrior): Meteor Storm Gun - Press B once to aim and hold to fire. Ray fires a an extremely rapid speed, small needles. The needles fire so fast, that if an opponent is caught in the stream, it becomes nearly impossible to escape, taking constant damage. Has infinite ammo.

Up B (Ray Warrior): Wall Pod - Ray pulls out a Wall Pod and hangs on to it. In the process of doing so, two other Wall Pods will be dispersed, seeking opponents to explode onto. After about 2.5 - 3 seconds of hanging on to the Wall Pod, it will explode, sending Ray flying in the direction it was facing. The explosion can also damage opponents, but not Ray.
___________________________________
After about 20 seconds in this form, Ray will return back to normal. Ray will still take damage in this form, but will not flinch (Super Armor).

Thanks for reading!!

4.5/5.  Much better than my Ray 01 moveset, but I don't like the reloading (if none of those weapons need reloading in the Custom Robo games, then why add it for SSBB?) or the need to aim the gatling gun (once again, an annoying trait that wasn't in the games)

You do have to reload.

...Friend codes were probably implemented by the same people who wanted tripping in Brawl...
...It's quite obvious...

The Basic Gun?  I could of swore that you can just shoot bursts of three over and over again...

I thought you shot until it overheated and then waited for it to cool down which is sort of like reloading. I could be wrong.

Well, I haven't played it in quite a while...  Either way, this is a good moveset.

Nice job. Now, I never played Custom Robo in my life so I couldn't really judge. I stand neutral but, he does seem like he'd make a good fighter...
YOU DON'T MESS WITH THAT!!!!

I think Captain Olimar saved Ray 01:  you see, some people thought Custom Robo wasn't popular enough to get a playable character in Brawl, and others said Ray 01 was too small.  However, Pikmin is even less popular than Custom Robo, and they got a rep who's smaller than Ray 01!  I was always hoping Olimar would make it, so I glad personally, but it's even better that his confirmation denies all anti-Ray 01 arguments.

YAY FOR PIKMIN!

Some of the guns did require reloading, I believe...

And I only put in the reloading feature to even out the Special Moves. Blasting your opponent away with an endless line of rounds with the Gatling Gun is too broken... Except if it is used in the case of a Final Smash ;)
