Okay, so I'm at the Western Energy Signature on Bryyo. I was looking at a guide on IGN for what to do in the room where you see the Leviathan Shield Generator. I had originally left the room, but then when I check the guide, it said that two panels were supposed to open up, and I was to fight a pair of Space Pirates. It never happened. What's going on? ????

Well, they tend be overzealous about getting rid of all opposition, and if they didn't, it'd ruin the whole point of the game anyway.

But wanting to destroy samus, they were moronic enough to acidentally open the way for her to destroy it.
