Wavedshing has been confimed to be out since October. Now wavelanding, that is in.And Star, L-cancelling is the same as R-canceling, if I'm right in what I think you mean. Pressing R right before landing to cancel half the lag, right?
Hmm... how can wavelanding be in and not wavedashing.
Arent they basically the same thing?

Wavedashing just using minimal jumps.
Wavedashing is doing it when you are going up, wavelanding is doing it when you are going down. To waveland you use a move that "pulls you downward" Mario's Bair or Bowser's Bair are good example. The cloest you can get to wavedashing is Float cancelling with peach and uing her nair I think it is.

*Brain asplodes*

All these friggin' advanced terms!

Wave dashing is when you mid air dodge at an angle right?

Maybe wave landing is just the ability to press the "L or R" button to cancel the lagging with out going at an angle.  :robotindifferent:

I hate this crap.

No, wavelanding is air-dodging downwards at and angle while moving down.

L-canceling is hitting l or r after an aerial move to cancel lag after hitting the ground.

Wavedashing: Jumping and immediatly air doging diagonaly into the ground. If you do it correctly, it shouldn't even look like you jumped and you should slide along the ground

Wavelanding: The same air dodging technique, but instead of doing it right when you jump, you do it when you are landing from a jump

L-canceling: Pressing L, R, or Z right before you hit the ground after doing an air attack to cancel half of the lag.

You know about this stuff Dawei, so is it basically wavedashing out being overridden by wavelanding or something?
I heard that was the case from a friend of mine in RL...

Not overridden (at least, not in my definition), but to be blunt;

WAVEDASHING IS OUT

WAVELANDING IS IN BUT DONE DIFFERENTLY

okey dokey. Just wanted to be sure. Now I don't have to worry about the idiots who spam wavedashing online
thinks: "lawz wahfedassin meens ahm gud yayz!"
It's times like those I'm glad there is no voice chat...stupid twelve year olds...

Doesn't make them skilled, but it means they have some technical advantage against those who can't do it ;)

Also, I must say that this is only what is known from the E4all demo. None of the other demos that have been out have been as easy to get to for anything else to be discovered. Things could always change, though believe this for now.

I'm sure we both know people who spam WD's and think they're good because of it.

Despite the Wii not having good specs, it's been seven years since Melee's release. I'm sure they've come up with ways to get rid of it for the most part, although Wavelanding is something they probably couldn't get rid of completely (not even the PS3 has that type of specs to get rid of something like that completely)

There is no reason to get rid of it though. It wasn't hurting anyone.

Not to mention Sakurai is pretty much oblivious to people who play smash a lot, so he probably doesn't even know about it.

If Sakurai is anything like Miyamoto, Kojima, or any good game developer, he probably knows about everything about the game from just being OCD at points.
It wasn't hurting, but I'm glad to see it go though...

Why are you glad? Because you can't do it you want no one else to be able too?

I can do it decently (only with Marth and Falco tho), it just annoyed me for some reason. I dunno why, it just irked me.. I'd be fine if it was in though. No biggie if it turns out it is.

Playat

Wave dashing is out and L-canceling is pretty much useless since alot of characters have little lag in their attacks.

I don't know why is it so important for wavedashing and other advanced tech to be in the game(although fastfalling and edge-hogging is an except)
