Guitar would be harder, but more entertaining. Bass is easier, and not usually as good of a melody (When it gets one), but gives you ability to play other stringed instruments reasonably well.

Guitar, because you can play more substantial songs, like Phantom already said.

Either one. I myself play bass.

Here's the thing. Bass is easier to learn- it's usually played one string at a time, has only four strings, and you don't even need a pick. Though easier than guitar, it's harder to master. You can easily be beastly at guitar after you learn to play, but to be a master of bass it'll take awhile.

I'd reccommend learning both. If you want something to play on your own and play songs like you know 'em, go with guitar. If you're interested in being in a band and take interest in the low, funky sound of a bass, go with that. (Bass is like, really good if you wanna be in a band 'cuz every kid who wants to play rock chooses guitar or drums, making bassists a shortage)

Since you already play guitar, eh, just start with that. Learn bass whenever you can.

Oh, and I disagree with people who think bass isn't fun to play alone.

Guitar.
Do you know anything about music at all?  The Bass carries the tempo  :robotangry:

Anyway, I'd have to say bass, if you're interested in playing in a band or something good Bass players are harder to come by than guitar players.  Whichever one you do decide to learn though, PLEASE, for the love of educated musicians everywhere, LEARN TO READ MUSIC!  I can't tell you how many times I've tried to start a band with people and I've asked them to write out a rhythm or something and they can't because they have no clue how to read music.

OmegaPapyrus

I know how to play both, and I would reccomend playing the guitar. I have more fun playing the guitar, and it is also easier to write songs with, IMO. Both are really great to play, so I guess that it is all which you like more.

Cakeman

I play guitar...i reccommend the guitar :P

I play bass, and it is definitely easier then guitar and yea I'm kinda in a band with two other guitarists so its great being the only bassist. I recommend bass.

sonicdude164

I play guitar, and I think it's more overall fun to play, but whatever you chose, it's still awesome.
