I feel sorry for anyone that bought an HD-DVD player.

Toshiba has given up on HD DVD. Mainly because pretty much every studio chose Blu-Ray, and so did most retailers.

Yay, finally a Sony format that didn't fail within a year. :)

Who actually thought HD-DVD would win the format wars?

I actually didn't care. Now I know which to buy later.

blu-ray players are still useless for a year or so until they:

1. get a constant from which to work with, not updating every few months

2. reduce the price to make it worthwhile

3. get some more movies to play on it. :|

I heard a rumor Microsoft might make a Blu-Ray playing 360.

Even though Blu-Ray is owned by Sony... ::)

/facepalm Blu-Ray is owned by the Blu-Ray Disc Association, and I highly doubt Microsoft would make such a moddle of the Xbox 360.

doesn't matter in the long run, Blu Ray is just going to be replaced by the Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) in a few years anyway.

You could say that about everything, 'Ololo, you're an idiot for buying DVD, it'll just be replaced.', 'You're an idiot for buying an iPhone, it'll just be replaced with a better model.', 'You're an idiot for buying that new car, there will just be a new model next year.'. If you always say 'I shouldn't buy that because it'll be replaced in a few years.' you'd never purchase anything.
