King of The Hill Tourney (Concept)

There was a thread set up for a local tourney for only NSF...
Well, ever since then I've been thinking of a format that sounds like it could be fun.
Its called King of The Hill... but its not what you'd think.

We start of with a normal tourney... but when you lose you aren't knocked out.
Instead, you stay where you are in the bracket.
The object of the game is to get to the top of the bracket, defending your position all the way along.

As a lower contender, you have to fight your way up... and If you are at the top you have to defend your place at the top of the pile and aim for the #1 spot.

And to keep people from staying in the top for too long...
Well I have a few theories.

1-Create different levels for the tourney
2-Bump a user down after 3 days of inactivity or failure to comply with a match
3-Give new champions a grace period without fighting, and after that you can only hold the top for a max of 5 matches and then you are booted off.
4. After the champ is booted off, the 2 lower players will have a best of 3 match to decide the new champ.

Rinse, wash and repeat.
The winners could have special ranks for the Smash, or even entire, forum.

The idea is that once you are at the top, you want to stay there until the match is over and KO anyone who comes up.

What if it was a reverse King of the Hill? :O
