I've seen this all over these and other forums.

"Wow, you can't even type right and you're a mod?"

"I can type better than you, why the hell are you a mod?"

etc.

It annoys me to no end. Just because someone can't spell well doesn't mean they should't be running/moderating a forum.

Well, usually not being able to spell is associated with ignorance, so I could see why people coudn't trust people that much if they had a lot of spelling errors.

Somebody that can't spell... annoys me, and I don't want an admin whose posts all annoy me. I also don't take them seriously in some topics...

I dunno =P People on the internet dislike bad grammar since it is all reading in the first place xD It just kinda looks bad :P I admit that usually, bad grammar DOES seem to be a sign of a bad mod (personal experience), but if someone is good, I wouldn't think bad grammar is something you oughta hold AGAINST 'em. I suppose people with bad grammar just sound worse on the web, since they are tougher to read, and usually have a worse vocabulary, which can look really n00bish.

Not using proper spelling and grammar shows laziness, which is an extremely unattractive quality in a moderator or administrator. Yes, it's not the only gauge that a staff member should be judged by, but it plays a big part. Especially when you type like Drybones.

I don't know, depends.

In a mod though, I like them to talk in full sentences instead of like this:

o, u kno ur braking ruel? ban lol

I'd like to say I could trust them. But truth being, I wouldn't. It's one of those I don't know the story situations, and why they might be spelling badly. So I would likely be jumping ahead with conclusions.

How do you expect someone who can't spell to properly operate a forum?

When people spell all their words incorrectly... well, it makes them look to have the intelligence of a first grader. And I've seen first graders with better spelling than some people on the internet!

Since we have no idea how old the people behind each of these screennames are, poor spelling makes us think of them as younger and more immature. At least, that's how I see it.
