Is there a point at which having a long password becomes counter productive?

My GoDaddy password is over 30 characters. THAT MEANS MY DOMAIN SHOULD BE SECURE [Y/N]

Is it ever bad to have a password that is too long?

It's good, in that there's less chance that someone can guess your password.
It's bad, in that if you forget your password, there's less chance of you getting it right in the first 500 tries.

if it's longer, you can usually remember it better, i find.

as long as you can type fast, it's not a problem IMHO.  I have quite a few 10 character long passwords.

They'll also have to guess my customer number and how many characters above 30 it is.

My password is only 9 characters long, but it's still secure in the fact that it's difficult to guess.

My password is hard to guess too, though it's more than 9 characters long.

I have an 11 character password for nearly all websites. It is a conetmplation of words and numbers. Very difficult to guess. I would find 30 characters a bit to long or anything over 15 to long. I find one word that is easy to remember with a number combanation you can easily remember is the best way to go.

It's only bad if you forget it or have to write it down somewhere to remember it.
