Public schools aren't technically allowed to let people off for religious holidays. Although I doubt the athiests would be complaining about an extra free day.

A lot of folks are on Spring Break, anyway. Of course, to answer your question, many public schools, as was mentioned above, don't get off for religious holidays (Which still doesn't keep Atheists from celebrating them...Christmas, anyone?).
