How do you capture bosses with trophy stands?

Yeah, I did it when he did that slam attack.  But I have no idea how to get meta ridley...

You don't have to wait for him to land on the stage. If you use a fast faller, you can probably get the trophy in midair. Of course, you can wait till he's hovering close enough to the stage for the trophy to land on the Falcon Flyer. But I wouldn't suggest trying this in the SSE. Wait till Boss Mode, so that you don't need to worry about the pesky time limit.

I don't think there are any items in Boss Mode...

Yes, trophy stands appear in Boss Mode. However, they don't appear to frequently unless you're on Intense, where you'll get one or two each match. Or so my source says.
