There seems to be a HUGE following for this game, is it really as good as everyone says?

I hadn't even heard of Earthbound till I had played with Ness in the first Super Smash Brothers, and yet I still have no idea what Earthbound is.

it's the second in a series of games called the Mother series.  They are RPG's that are centered around plot (which is humorous and quite wordy, or so I've heard).

I don't know about the first Earthbound but Mother 3 looks pretty good...well at least the story does.
