What exactly is 0\0?

I figured out that there are three possible answers:

0: Because 0 divided by anything is 0.

1: Because anything divided by itself is 1.

Undefined: Because anything divided by 0 is undefined.

Just something I thought up one day during math class. It's been bothering the heck out of me. :-\

I'd go for undefined, it's what my math books all go for. 6/0 = Undefined...

Undefined.
Even if it is 0/0, it can't equal 1 because anything divided by 0 is undefined.

Kaz

It's undefined. Not even zero can be divided by zero. Nothing can with a real answer. Pretty basic.

The explanation as to why it's undefined is tricky business, and has never been thoroughly defined beyond "it's undefined."

Nothing says "I DESPERATELY NEED A LIFE" more than a Wikipedia article pertaining to math.

Doodle

It's undefined/no solution. Anything divided by 0 is just no solution.
YEAH

"In perturbation theory,"
I stopped reading after the second word, because it doesn't make sense.

Well, that's what my math teacher said.

HOWEVER, when something is "undefined", when you graph it, it has no Y intercept. HOWEVER, 0 IS the y Intercept, and therefor, it SHOULDN'T be undifined because it DOES in fact touch the Y intercept.

Then again, it IS divided by Zero. :-\

Gah, this is confusing. :-\

Tupin

You cannot divide by zero.

At all.

well you can, but you're just going to get undefined.

Considering that if you divide by zero you doom humanity, I would say undefined.
HEY LOOK HEY

There's a hole in the point.

yeah, and since every point on the line is on the y-axis, there are holes at every point, making the line nonexistant.

Graphically this doesn't make much sense unless you back it up with the math.
