This idea started back when I first did multi-player on FSA.  When I did, I realized something:  Co-op Zelda is freaking awesome!  However, every player needing a GBA and connector cord is NOT awesome.  So, eventually, I came up with this.  Enjoy.

The Legend of Zelda: The Great War

Console:  Wii

Background:  In Ocarina of Time, the Great Deku Sprout told Link of a great war that took place before he was born, resulting in him being left in the Kokiri forest.  This game is the story of that war, a prequel to the longest chain of connected Zelda games ever (OoT-MM-WW-PH).

Story:  You start out as a soldier in the Hylian Army named Link.  You are already in the midst of a large battle against the Deku Scrubs, and after it is over the player is informed of what?s going on: the newest King of the Gerudo has teamed up with the Zoras and the Deku Scrubs in an attempt to overthrow the Hylians.  The Hylians have called upon the Rito, the Gorons, and the Sheikah as their teammates, and the war for Hyrule has begun.  Though you start out as Link, you soon team up with (and get to play as) a Goron named Kurro, a Sheikah named Maya, and Link?s childhood friend, a Rito named Soomi.  Eventually, after several battles, Link and Soomi meet a Zora warrior that was left behind because he endangered his teammates. He tells Link that the Gerudo King, Ganondorf, is actually the reincarnation of Ganon, a horrid monster that has tried to conquer Hyrule many times before.  Also, he reveals that the Zora queen is possessed by Ganondorf, as is the Deku King.  The Zora, whose name is Kazu, joins Link and his friends and they save the Zora queen, who then commands her army to join the Hylians.  To confirm Kazu?s story, a small group follows Sarah, a Gerudo who somehow escaped the spell, into the Gerudo Fortress to find Ganondorf?s plans (although Sarah doesn?t join the team).  The band of heroes then goes to fight the Deku King and his army, and upon saving him, his daughter Ivera joins the team and tells them that they must find the two perfect tribes, the Oocca and the Picori, and receive their magic in order to defeat Ganondorf. Once they receive the powers they need, the team is called by the Great Deku Tree in the Kokiri forest.  He tells them that they alone can?t stop Ganondorf and his evil army for good; their purpose is simply to stall Ganondorf so that they can hide the one who is destined to rise up against him.  So, through a series of battles, they eventually ?defeat? Ganondorf and hide the one who will someday stop him:  an infant, left in the protection of the Great Deku Tree by a young, mortally wounded woman.  Before she dies, she thanks the heroes who brought peace to Hyrule, and names her son after their leader: Link.  Meanwhile, Ganondorf, defeated, is shunned by his own people for his evil deeds, and he goes into hiding to await his chance for revenge.

Game play:  The game plays like a cross between the past 3D Zelda games (puzzle solving and multiple items) and Halo (level design, mission based, and large battles), but also has up to 3 characters, depending on what ?mission? you?re on, who follow you and fight with you.  You can switch between the characters any time, and you can have up to two players in co-op, up to four players in battle mode, two players in Wi-fi co-op, and up to four players in Wi-fi battle.  In co-op mode, you can select any of the missions you?ve completed in single player and start from there, as opposed to drop-in, drop-out play.  However, in Wi-fi, you can only start from missions that BOTH players have completed, though you can go as far as you want from there.

Controls:
Swing Wiimote= melee attack, A= use selected Special, B= projectile attack,
+ = Pause Menu, - = swap specials, Control Pad= swap character, Z= lock-on/shield,
Control Stick= move, C w/ Ctrl Stick= camera, Shake Nunchuk= spin attack/shield attack

Playable Battle Characters:  Link, Kurro, Maya, Soomi, Kazu, Ivera, Mido (Kokiri), Sarah (Gerudo)

Characters:  Melee, Defense, Long-Range, Special 1, Special 2

Battle Mode:  In Battle Mode, each player picks a character, and then they choose a side.  In 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 battles, each player is given 5 CPU teammates of their same species to help them fight.  If it is 2-on-1 or 3-on-1, then each player on the bigger team gets 3 of their species and the player that?s by himself gets however many the big team has plus 3.  The object of the game is to completely destroy the enemy team; you can adjust how many player lives and CPU lives there are.  Each CPU simply has the Melee, Defense, and Long-Range abilities of their leader.

Battle Levels:  Hyrule Castle, Desert Colossus, Anouki Village, Lost Woods, Death Mountain, Zora?s Domain

NO. Once I read "You play as a soldier named Link," I knew it was a coded no. You should only be able to play as Link, and Link only. A prequel to OoT would only furthur screw things up. The mission feature doesn't fit with Zelda at all. The story does not at all fit with Zelda, in my opinion.

I will reread this and come back to you.

1.  It's still Link, but this time he has an occupation (soldier)
2.  FSA had a mission feature
3.  Read entire first post before critiquing.

*facepalm*

I think it's a cool idea,
just not canon to the series.

like a spinoff game. :)

We've screwed the timeline enough, haven't we? This would probably further complicate things.
