Could somebody tell me how the VC works?

I need to know how to get the points for the games, put them on there, how many games can be on there, and if I need internet access. Oh, and anything else you feel is important. As well as reccomendations. ^_^

well the first thing you would need is:
Internet access and a Wii points card. (wii points can be found any where, where Nintendo products are sold)

After you have setup a Internet connenction
When you want to download a game for the Virtual Console you will need to add wii points. to do so:

go to the shop channel menu>Add points>Redeem a 2,000 wii points card>Enter a card number>the shop channel then tells you how much points are on the card>Redeem this card?>2000 points has been added to your acount.

Now you have points in your acount. Now comes the task of choseing which game you want to download.
I personaly recomend ether:
Super mario bros        500 wii points   VC
Super Mario world      800 wii points    VC
Mario kart 64           1,000 points         VC
Photo channel 1.1    Free             Wii channels

as you can see though you're over 2,000 points :P

when you want to download a game go to that game.
select download and download it!

the game will apear as a channel on the Wii menu.

Since it wasn't in WiiGuy's post, I will mention that you can also use a credit card instead of the Point Card.  No taxes involved, and the information should be safe (Nintendo would be intercourse ed if it wasn't).  I would recommend buying a Classic Controller if you're going to buy a Super Nintendo game, as they're more comfortable with control scheme (to many) than the Gamecube controller, and IMO, are more comfortable in shape too :)

I would not recommend buying games you already own, unless:

• Love them a lot
• Not willing to set up the old system to play them
• The old system/game corrupted (especially if you're not going out of your way to buy another one/not willing to risk downloading ROMs on your computer as an alternative)
• Also remember to research if a game sounds familiar.  It might be a port (like Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland).  That was a waste of points, as I already beat KNiD 100% on all three files.  Learn from my mistake.
  

Also, DO NOT BUY GAMES JUST TO TRY THEM.  It's my opinion, but I did this with Ristar and Kid Icarus, and they are now just a waste of points (more so, Ristar).

Also, since the Wii's memory is limited, and Nintendo will probably not come out with an external hard drive, or did any of the above, it is wise to buy an SD card to store game saves on.  (This may be misleading information, as I have not tried it myself, but at least buy one for saves).

One more edit:  I forgot the recommended games.

If you don't have the DKC games, buy them (800 pts each, three games).  Buy in order, and if it is your first time, buy the first or second to try.

If you already own Super Mario Bros, don't buy it (SAME WITH SUPER MARIO 64, as that's a waste of $10 USD.  That has like 3 ports at this point.).  Buy SMB2 (Lost Levels, NOT the one with Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad picking up the veggies and throwing them at enemies) if you don't own Super Mario All-Stars/Super Mario Deluxe or whatever it is on the GBC.  This is the sequel that didn't come to North America as it was "too challenging" for us.  It's worth the points.

Pok?mon Puzzle League is great.  I own the GBC version and I was addicted.  I never got the N64 version myself, but I played it at a cousin's and loved it.  If you're into puzzle games, get it.  Gameplay video courtesy of Rodriguezjr of Oldsider/NS2.
