Yeah, I just played a demo of Doom 3 and it was pretty good.  :)

I still like Team Fortress and Call of Duty 4 more, though.

If you ask me, FPS is America's video game genre. At least 70% of the best FPS games were developed in America :) I know someone will disagree, but it's obviously true ;)

Because at least 70% of America is made up of morons that laugh hysterically when someone's head flies off.

Look, anyone can stereotype or bash a certain genre, it's not that hard.

I personally don't like games like Warcraft. But I will respect your right to play it and not stereotype it, so I would appreciate if you did the same.

Am I saying you're part of the 70% that thinks it's hysterical when someone's head flies off? No. I'm saying that there are quite a few people that are, and that's what companies that make shooters seem to make their games for. I respect your opinion. I've played quite a few shooters. Am I saying they're all horrible? No.

Gratuitous violence is not funny to me, even in an arcadey game like Painkiller where all you do is kill.

Sometimes it's just fun to ignore a story line and plow through hoards of a zombie onslaught. Other times, it's more fun to slowly sneak around stealthily and silently assassinate the bad guy to advance the story more.

Now I'm pulled back into the thread -_-

And you're exactly correct. How an opinion is correct, I dunno, but it is. I appreciate shooters, don't get me wrong. TimeSpiltters 4 is very high on my "get this game on release date" list. But, CoD 4 is just another Halo to me. They aren't bad, but neither of them deserve game of the year (I think at least one of the Halo's got GotY...)

And I respect that you don't like CoD 4. I personally think it is much better than the sorry excuse for a third game in the trilogy, Halo 3. As far as I know, no major review sites or magazines gave Halo 3 GotY. It was either Bioshock or Call of Duty 4.

Yes, CoD4 is very awesome.

Class based gameplay is great, even though it is more evident in TF2.

I think we like violence in video games so much because we could never do that stuff outside of a video game! >:D

actually we could...

we just do it in video games because you don't get in trouble for it. (most of them anyway)
