I'd rather have Roy replaced to make room for Fire Emblem characters that I know about, but I didn't choose "No" in the poll because of the "stupid Marth clone" part.  That's not the way I saw him in Melee, and he most certainly wouldn't have to have the same moves as Marth if they were both in Brawl.

hint: Go read my first post. 8)

I already did, and I know what you said.  I'm just stating why I didn't vote "No" in this poll.  You say that Roy can be decloned, but who's to say that Marth isn't a clone of Roy?

because Marth is unlocked first and Roy comes in after you beat classic with Marth

Yes.

But that's probably not going to happen, with Sakurai's favorite lord being sigurd, Marth's likely return, and Ike bringing the same style for him doesn't really leave much room for him.

While FE is the father of tactical RPG's I doubt it'd get 4 reps.

If Sigurd is Sakurai's favourite...
Then why wasn't he in melee?
Also, Roy was in, Sigurd wasn't. :P
Isn't it freaking obvious? He didn't have the time, Melee was created in 10 months, he probably didn't have the time to create a unique moveset.

No, it isn't freaking obvious.
I didn't know melee was made in a mere 10 months.
Sorry for not knowing.   :|
Don't have to get all mad about it. >.>

Well, heck yeah. I beat event 51 with him in 1:22.23 time. :O

Java

I'm more or less neutral about Roy although I would prefer other FE characters.

I actually hope they kick Marth out.

How about a 3rd option -- I don't really care either way, siince I never used him.

There's sort of a special way of expressing that feeling. It's called "not hitting the reply button".

Ummm...  He asked for my answer.  So, no, what you said is incorrect.  The way of expressing that feeling is what I did by not voting and only expressing my answer in a reply.  Thank you.

First off about Roy being a "clone"... His moveset looks pretty much the same but the the way the characters play are completely different. "Clone" just doesn't seem to fit the situation, it's more like two characters based loosely off the same frame, not verbatim copies... That being said, Roy is pretty much a Marth without everything that makes Marth good. I don't think either of them are coming back for Brawl. They are kind of bland-esque characters that nobody in the US knew about before SSBM. Also, as it was stated before, Sigurd would've replaced Roy if they had more time, which they do this time around. Now with Ike in Brawl it's obvious that Sakurai is trying to appeal to the US audience atleast a little bit by releasing a character in a popular FE game that was actually released in the US.

Bottom line: Marth and Roy are old, unknown in the US (without SSBM) and can really be replaced by any of the FE characters. The only thing that could keep Marth and Roy in is their current SSBM popularity. Marth has a much better chance of staying in than Roy, but both of them could easily not make it.

Also, I don't like them (especially Marth), getting sweet spotted at 50% and dying = not cool.
