Quote from: Ganon1998I love all this "items aren't fair" crap.
You know what, if you play anything MORE than 3 stock, the person who is better will ALWAYS win.
Sure, if your playing with one stock, maybe the unskilled player will win once in a while, but not if your playing 3+ stock.
First of all, the chances of a "noob" beating an amazing playing in a one stock match is astronimically low. 3 stock matches? Try "hitting the lottery" low. :\

The "items will make the horrible player win" argument is equivalent to complaining that a person who is playing Risk against you is getting 3 extra peices a turn when you own 95% of the board and he can somehow "come back" and kill you, so it would only be fair if you got rid of the +3 guys per turn rule. Or you complaining that a person, "by luck", landed on a community chest square and gained $100 when he is almost bankrupt and you own 90% of the board in Monopoly, so to make it fair you have to get rid of the community chest and chance cards.

>_>

I'm not saying it's bad that they turn off items, just that it seems like they are obsessing over something that may only happen once in every million matches.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...

If you have to "Rely" on items to win... lol
"Handicap" then.

Honestly, If you suck that much shouldn't a person practice by themselves to get better?

If you can't beat a cpu level  9 then the chances of you beating a human player is kind of low in itself.
If you CAN beat a level 9 you have the mental capability/knowledge to Atleast hold your own against a Veteran Smash Player.

And what of items anyway?
An Ace Veteran Smash Player can WIN Even better With items "ON" then "off".
So the chances of a n00b beating a Pro is still mighty low, wouldn't you say? ;D

I mean...it makes sense.
I'm not a pro at SSBB, but me fighting a N00b with/with out items doesn't truly give that n00b a better chance at beating me.

Oh yah, sure, I may attack/Miss and a Bob-omb my RANDOMLY/IRONICALLY APPEAR in front of me causing me to "lose"...
Lol
But what does that mean?
Does that give any skill to the n00b I was fighting?
Does that say that N00b is better then me?
I highly think not. ;)

__

As I said, atleast for "me". Beating a Pro at SSBB using my OWN skills with out using "items" or "Interference" means more of a victory for me then a Hammer, Star, Golden Hammer, bob-omb etc...

Items are here for a reason, but they do not truly make a smasher a better/worser player.

Items are not Necessary.
(for the most part)

QuoteI agree, and disagree.

Is that what you meant?
...Friend codes were probably implemented by the same people who wanted tripping in Brawl...
...It's quite obvious...

Hardly. Just some people here really hate ns2 for whatever reason.

Jono2

the main point of item banning in Melee wasn't because "OMG NOOB WILL BEAT ME NOW", it was because of how godly it made Fox and Falco.

the same thing applies to Brawl.

I just get annoyed when I'm winning and they throw bats at me until I die.
Other than that it is fun to get a Home Run in mid match

Oh Vesperia, never change... never change

Normally a skilled player will win with items on because of great usage, but say a Bob-omb "happens" to fall out of the sky and K.O. the veteran.

Kilroy

Items mean nothing. Turn of explosives, for Christ's sake.

People who complain about items seem to act as if the items are only giving their opponent an advantage.  What these people need to remember is that THEY CAN USE ITEMS TOO, and a REALLY good player would be able to use the items to even further destroy their enemies.  Basically, if they can only play well by turning off a large chunk of the game, then maybe they're not as good as they think.

HTA!

Ummm... no.
The whole point of item-less matches it to test technical skill with a character.
I could care less about all this "its not all luck items are skill" poop.
Items have no place in competitive play as it stands now, unless you go to a item oriented tourney which carries less wait then a "no item" tourney.
Therefore, the rules stand and there is noting you can say or do that will stop people choosing to play a certain way...
And If a lot of people play this way, its their choice and not your place to comment. X_X;;

Not really, I'm sure anyone on the power ranking could annihilate the average smasher, even if the average player was allowed EVERY item. 0_o

Some people choose to focus more on the skill of fighting rather than the skill of throwing and catching.
And besides, what is considered as a "really good player" is all relative to what group you talk to... so really this argument has no grounds as none of us are pros and really won't get up to that caliber.
