According to the Brawl trophy, his/her gender is unknown.
But I would THINK she's a girl. ;)

Birdo is probably a species. Not just one entity.

So some are male, and some are female.

But if there is just one birdo, then I think it's female :P

I doubt Nintendo would be supporting homosexuality, and it's obvious that Nintendo basically made Yoshi and Birdo partners for life. So I'm almost positive Birdo is female. But so many people say different.

Old School Nintendo says Birdo is a he who dresses as a she and not technically part of Mario

Current Nintendo says Birdo is female and crushing on yoshi.

Many fans think Birdo is an entire species like Yoshi because there were pink birdos and red birdos in the game.

Yeah, in the SMB2 manual.

But really do you think the family-friendly company that is Nintendo would have Yoshi and Birdo in a gay relationship?

I find it much more realistic to believe that there is a species of Birdos. The one in SMB2 is a male, while the new Birdo featured in the spin-offs is a female.

Incase you haven't noticed, Birdo is actually sporting a Diamond ring now in the newer games.
